يُعدّ اليوم الدولي للشباب الذي يُصادف الـ12 من أغسطس من كل عام، مناسبة أقرّتها الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة عام 1999م؛ بهدف تسليط الضوء على قضايا الشباب، وتعزيز دور الشباب في تحقيق الأهداف التنموية، التي تضع الشباب في صميم إستراتيجياتها وأهدافها المستقبلية.
وتراهن المملكة على دور الشباب في دعم الاقتصاد الوطني من خلال إيجاد بنية تساعد رواد الأعمال من الشباب على البدء في وضع اللبنة الأولى لمشاريعهم، والاهتمام بتنمية الشباب السعودي وتأهيلهم، وتمكينهم للقيام بدورهم في نهضة البلاد وبناء مستقبل واعد ومشرق، كما تؤكّد التزامها العميق بتأهيل جيل قادر على قيادة التحول الوطني وبناء كوادر وطنية شابة تتبوأ المناصب القيادية من خلال إطلاق العديد من البرامج والمشاريع والمبادرات لدعمهم وتأهيلهم وزيادة مشاركتهم في الاقتصاد وتوفير الفرص لهم، ضمن إحدى أهم أولويات المملكة لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة.
وفي ظل رؤية المملكة 2030، شكّل تمكين الشباب محوراً رئيسياً في مسيرة التنمية الوطنية، وذلك في العديد من المبادرات والبرامج التي تهدف إلى تطوير المهارات، وتحفيز الابتكار، وتوفير فرص العمل، وقد واكبت المملكة من خلال الهيئة العامة للإحصاء التطورات العالمية في المجال الإحصائي، وذلك عبر توفير قاعدة بيانات إحصائية دقيقة يتم استخدامها كأساس موثوق لرسم السياسات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، ودعم صناع القرار في تطوير الخطط التنموية لمختلف القطاعات، وقياس أداء الأجهزة الحكومية، وإجراء المقارنات المحلية والإقليمية والدولية بدقة وشفافية.
وتشير البيانات الإحصائية الصادرة من الهيئة العامة للإحصاء أن نسبة إجمالي السكان السعوديين (أقل من 35 سنة) 69.4%، من إجمالي السكان السعوديين عام 2024. كما بلغت نسبة الشباب السعودي (15-34 سنة) 35.9% من إجمالي السكان السعوديين للعام نفسه، إذ بلغت نسبة الذكور منهم 50.3% في مقابل 49.7% للإناث، فيما بلغت نسبة السكان الذين أعمارهم أقل من 35 سنة 61.4% من إجمالي السكان عام 2024.
يذكر أن الهيئة العامة للإحصاء تحرص على الالتزام بأعلى معايير إصدار المؤشرات الإحصائية وفق متغيرات العمر والجنس واتباع أحدث المنهجيات العالمية، مما يُسهم في تخطيط البرامج التنموية للشباب وتعزيز مشاركتهم في صياغة تصورات المستقبل، وهو ما يعكس دور الهيئة بصفتها مرجعاً إحصائياً رسمياً وطنياً مسؤولاً عن تنفيذ جميع الأعمال الإحصائية والإشراف الفني على القطاع الإحصائي في المملكة.
The International Youth Day, celebrated on August 12 each year, is an occasion established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999; aimed at highlighting youth issues and enhancing the role of youth in achieving developmental goals that place youth at the heart of their strategies and future objectives.
The Kingdom bets on the role of youth in supporting the national economy by creating an infrastructure that helps young entrepreneurs to lay the foundation for their projects, focusing on developing Saudi youth and qualifying them, and empowering them to play their role in the renaissance of the country and building a promising and bright future. It also reaffirms its deep commitment to qualifying a generation capable of leading the national transformation and building a young national workforce that occupies leadership positions through launching numerous programs, projects, and initiatives to support, qualify, and increase their participation in the economy and provide opportunities for them, as part of one of the Kingdom's top priorities to achieve sustainable development.
In light of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, empowering youth has become a key focus in the national development journey, through various initiatives and programs aimed at skill development, stimulating innovation, and providing job opportunities. The Kingdom has kept pace with global developments in the statistical field through the General Authority for Statistics by providing an accurate statistical database that is used as a reliable basis for shaping economic and social policies, supporting decision-makers in developing developmental plans for various sectors, measuring the performance of government agencies, and conducting local, regional, and international comparisons with accuracy and transparency.
Statistical data issued by the General Authority for Statistics indicates that the percentage of the total Saudi population (under 35 years) is 69.4% of the total Saudi population in 2024. The percentage of Saudi youth (15-34 years) reached 35.9% of the total Saudi population for the same year, with the percentage of males being 50.3% compared to 49.7% for females, while the percentage of the population aged under 35 years is 61.4% of the total population in 2024.
It is worth mentioning that the General Authority for Statistics is keen to adhere to the highest standards in issuing statistical indicators according to age and gender variables and following the latest global methodologies, which contributes to planning developmental programs for youth and enhancing their participation in shaping future visions. This reflects the role of the Authority as a national official statistical reference responsible for implementing all statistical work and providing technical supervision over the statistical sector in the Kingdom.
