The border guard teams and volunteer divers retrieved the body of a diver who drowned off the coast of Abhur, while the teams continue to search for another missing person.

The border guard teams had received a report about two missing divers in the sea in the Abhur area, and communication with them was lost despite them being trained divers.

The search and rescue teams began operations at the site and, with the participation of volunteers, found the body of diver Fahd Arafat, while the search for diver Wisam Mansour Al-Zahrani continues.

The details of the incident date back to when three friends went into the sea at a resort beach north of Jeddah. By evening, communication was lost with two of them, while the third returned, prompting the search operations that ended with the discovery of Fahd Arafat's body on the beach, while Wisam's fate remains unknown until now.

Wisam has extensive diving experience; he is a professional instructor and a father of three children. His family is known for their expertise in diving, yet the circumstances of the incident remain unclear amid reports of finding parts of his clothing in a complex area in terms of terrain and water currents.

The uncle of the missing diver, media figure Saleh Al-Amoudi, revealed that he and all the family and relatives were shocked by this tragic incident involving his nephew "Wisam," and their hearts are broken for him, but they are completely content with God's decree and destiny.

Al-Amoudi indicated that they do not know the circumstances of the incident or what happened underwater, confirming that Wisam is skilled in diving and wears all the necessary clothing, equipment, and devices that he is accustomed to using on diving trips, but God's will is above all.

He noted that there is still hope in God, as a team of deep-sea divers has been called in, and a very advanced device is being used to photograph and scan the deep sea floor. We ask God to crown the efforts with finding him.

Diving expert Abdul Latif Al-Hazmi revealed that the duration of the search varies in drowning cases depending on several factors, including the depth of the water and its conditions, water temperature, the presence of water currents, the skills of the divers, and others.

He added: There are some key time points that must be considered in ordinary drowning cases; the search for a drowning person can take several hours or days, and sometimes it may extend to weeks, especially in cases where it is difficult to determine the drowning location or in the presence of natural obstacles or complex terrain.

Al-Hazmi further stated that in cases of drowning in cold water, the search duration may be prolonged due to the cooling effect on the body, which may lead to an increased survival time, while in cases of drowning in deep water, searching for the drowning person may be more difficult and take longer due to the challenges of reaching the depths and the effects of pressure.

He explained that in cases of drowning in shallow water, the search may be faster and easier, but it may be affected by the presence of water currents or obstacles in the water. He noted that, in general, search and rescue teams aim to locate the drowning person as quickly as possible, but the process may take longer due to surrounding conditions, as visibility in the water significantly affects the search duration; the better the visibility, the greater the chances of quickly finding the drowning person. Additionally, weather conditions such as wind, waves, and water currents impact the effectiveness of the search. He emphasized that the more information available about the drowning location and its circumstances, the greater the chances of finding the drowning person quickly. The hours that divers wear also help in recording accurate information about depth and time, but many of them do not link it to any external tracking system, making the identification and inference of the location more difficult.
