The residents of Taif Governorate are keen to offer seasonal fruits during social occasions and to welcome guests in the summer. Abdullah Al-Namri stated that the fruits of Taif vary from the beginning of the season, such as apricots and various colored peaches, including the red and green ones that are distinguished by their sour taste. They are grown in high-altitude areas like Al-Hada and Al-Shifa, which are cooler.
Among the most famous seasonal fruits in Taif are the local custard apple and the fig, both the common and the Shami varieties, which are cultivated in the farms and orchards of Taif in Al-Muthna, Al-Wahat, and Al-Wuhait.
As for Ahmed Al-Sufyani, he believes that the fruits of Taif, such as prickly pear or what is called local barshumi, mulberries grafted onto mulberry trees, pomegranates, and grapes, indicate the end of summer. These are grown in the farms and orchards in the middle and southern parts of Taif in the valleys of Bani Saad and are characterized by their high quality and distinctive taste.
Al-Sufyani added that the types of pomegranates differ based on the color of their seeds, with white and red varieties. As for grapes, they are distinguished by greenish-white, red, and black colors depending on the size of the fruit.
Economically, Mohammed Al-Otaibi mentioned that Taif's markets are economically active, and there is a continuous demand for seasonal fruits. Al-Otaibi added that the interest of locals and visitors in fruit seedlings has encouraged farmers to plant more fruit seedlings. As is well known, Taif is distinguished by its cool weather in summer and the fertility of its soil. Recently, farmers have started planting strawberries and citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, and tangelos.
