The Islamic Center in the British capital, London, hosted an extensive meeting between the Secretary-General and President of the Muslim Scholars Association, Dr. Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Issa, and Islamic leaders from across the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, there was an emphasis on the importance of prioritizing the logic of wisdom in the behavior of the Muslim community towards all situations, following the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who faced difficulties and challenges with wisdom, forgiveness, and forbearance according to the principle: “Repel evil with that which is better.”
Al-Issa highlighted the importance of unifying the Islamic reference in seeking fatwas and religious guidance, specifically in public issues, pointing out that the Islamic Fiqh Academy of the League, which is the oldest and most prestigious fiqh academy in Islamic history, will hold a forum at this center to discuss the jurisprudence of Muslim communities at the invitation and hosting of the center. He proposed the idea of establishing a code for this jurisprudence that would be updated periodically as needed, as well as addressing the latest training programs for imams in the United Kingdom based on the Mecca Document, with a suggestion to include it in Islamic curricula at various educational levels.
He explained the importance of protecting Muslim youth from foreign ideas that contradict Islamic moderation, starting from the central role of the family, through the importance of religious education curricula, the qualification and training of its teachers, and ending with influential platforms, especially Friday sermons and lectures.
At the end of the meeting, Al-Issa praised the awareness of the British Muslim community, stating, “We have the right to take pride in it as a conscious component that represents the true essence of our Islamic religion in front of this diverse and influential society.”
This was followed by a number of questions and interventions that praised - in their contexts - the role of the Muslim World League around the world, affirming their pride in it, and that it represents a source of pride for them, noting that they have sensed this in the British impression at various levels.
On another note, the attendees appreciated the Secretary-General's visit to the United Kingdom and his meeting with its senior officials, in a significant timeframe for them, especially discussing the phenomenon of Islamophobia, which has recently seen a concerning escalation. They commended the solutions he proposed to address it, describing them as objective and wise. The attendees noted the League's efforts to unify their "local" Islamic reference, similar to what it has done in several minority countries, affirming that this represents a great hope they look forward to, especially since the League, through the proposals presented by its Secretary-General, has gained wide appreciation, indicating that it has thereby enhanced the confidence of the British community in all its components, through the League's discourse and its international initiatives regarding social cohesion and optimal coexistence, in accordance with the values of Islam that advocate for this.
