من «الأندلس» إلى السعودية عبروا بـ 11 دولة، إذ أوفى الدكتور عبد الله بعهده بأداء فريضة الحج إن كتب الله له النجاح في امتحان الجامعة الإسبانية، إذ كان يستعد لخوض غماره. كان ذلك قبل 36 عاماً «كنت أعِدُّ نفسي لخوض الاختبار الصعب لأحقق حلمي في أن أصبح أستاذاً في الجامعة، وكتبت في دفتري: لو نجحت في الاختبار الصعب أتعهد باعتناق الإسلام والذهاب إلى الأراضي المقدسة في مكة على ظهر الخيل»!
تعهد الدكتور عبد الله، لم يأتِ هكذا من قبيل الصدفة، فأداء الحج على ظهور الخيل - كما يقول - هي من عادات وتقاليد أجداده الأندلسيين الذين جبلوا على قطع المسافات الطوال وخوض الصعاب وصولاً إلى الأرض الطاهرة، ففي كل خطوة أجر وثواب.
يقول الأستاذ الجامعي لـ «عكاظ»: في منطقة المسلمين في صربيا وفي سنجاق تلقينا مساعدات أعانتنا في الوصول إلى هنا، منحونا وزملائي في الرحلة المباركة نحو 2000 يورو!
الحاج عبد القادر أحد شركاء رحلة الخيل يروي بعض حكايات «المشوار الجميل»: خرجنا من إسبانيا في شتاء و طقس ماطر، لم تكن الرعود هي التحدي الوحيد، فالرحلة إلى مكة كما هو معلوم تحتاج إلى الاستعداد المادي، ورغم التحديات التي واجهتنا في بادئ الأمر.. ها نحن الآن في مكة المكرمة، قطعنا المسافات على ظهر الخيول من إسبانيا ومدنها كلها وفرنسا وإيطاليا وسلوفينيا وكرواتيا والبوسنة وصربيا وبلغاريا وتركيا وسورية والأردن وصولاً إلى السعودية، عبرنا نحو ٦٥٠٠ كيلو متر في سبعة أشهر. ومن «بركات» رحلتنا الاستثنائية، أن وفقنا الله في اعتناق «ستيفانو الإيطالي» للدين الإسلامي، كما أسلمت زوجة «أبو شعيب» زميلنا في الرحلة.
الحاج عبد القادر الذي تولى الترجمة لـ«عكاظ» أثنى على الترحيب الكبير الذي حظي به وشركاء الرحلة في السعودية «ما رأيناه في المملكة يثلج الصدر، اهتمام كبير بالحجاج ورعاية للقادمين من كل أنحاء العالم، السعوديون يرحبون بنا بفرح غامر في كل مكان نذهب إليه».
From "Andalusia" to Saudi Arabia, they crossed through 11 countries, as Dr. Abdullah fulfilled his promise to perform the Hajj if Allah granted him success in the Spanish university exam, for which he was preparing to dive into. This was 36 years ago: "I was preparing myself to take the difficult test to achieve my dream of becoming a university professor, and I wrote in my notebook: If I succeed in the difficult exam, I pledge to embrace Islam and go to the holy lands in Mecca on horseback!"
Dr. Abdullah's pledge did not come about by chance; performing Hajj on horseback - as he says - is one of the customs and traditions of his Andalusian ancestors, who were accustomed to covering long distances and facing hardships to reach the holy land, for every step carries a reward and merit.
The university professor told "Okaz": In the Muslim area of Serbia and in Sandžak, we received assistance that helped us reach here, granting me and my fellow travelers on this blessed journey about 2000 euros!
Hajj Abdul Qadir, one of the companions on the horseback journey, recounts some stories from "the beautiful journey": We left Spain in winter and rainy weather; thunder was not the only challenge. The journey to Mecca, as is known, requires financial preparation, and despite the challenges we faced at first... here we are now in Mecca, having traveled on horseback from Spain and all its cities, as well as France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, and Jordan, reaching Saudi Arabia. We crossed about 6,500 kilometers in seven months. One of the "blessings" of our exceptional journey is that Allah guided "Stefano the Italian" to embrace Islam, and the wife of "Abu Shuayb," our fellow traveler, also converted to Islam.
Hajj Abdul Qadir, who took on the translation for "Okaz," praised the warm welcome he and his travel companions received in Saudi Arabia: "What we saw in the Kingdom is heartwarming, with great care for the pilgrims and attention to those coming from all over the world. The Saudis welcome us with overwhelming joy everywhere we go."
