أعلن وزير السياحة أحمد الخطيب -خلال مشاركته في النسخة الثانية من منتدى عسير للاستثمار- أن منطقة عسير استقبلت خلال عام 2024 نحو 8 ملايين سائح من داخل المملكة وخارجها، مما يعكس المكانة المتنامية للمنطقة وجهةً سياحيةً رئيسيةً في المملكة.
وأكد أن منطقة عسير تتمتع بمقومات طبيعية وثقافية فريدة تؤهلها لأن تكون بيئة جاذبة للاستثمار السياحي، مشيرًا إلى أن السنوات القادمة ستشهد إضافة نحو 4000 غرفة فندقية جديدة إلى السوق السياحية بالمنطقة، بدعم من منظومة السياحة.
وتطرق الوزير إلى جهود الوزارة في استقطاب علامات الضيافة العالمية، التي بدأت تتجه إلى عسير لما تملكه من فرص واعدة، مشيدًا بالدور المحوري الذي يلعبه سكان المنطقة في استدامة القطاع السياحي، مؤكدًا أن شباب وشابات المنطقة يمثلون الركيزة الأساسية في تقديم تجربة سياحية أصيلة ومتميزة.
وأضاف أن منطقة عسير لم تعد وجهة موسمية تقتصر على الصيف فحسب، بل أصبحت مقصدًا سياحيًا على مدار العام، بفضل تنوعها البيئي والثقافي، ومن أبرز عناصر الجذب الفنون العسيرية مثل: القط العسيري، وتنوع الأزياء التقليدية والمطبخ المحلي، التي أسهمت في ترسيخ هويتها السياحية المتفردة للمنطقة.
Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khatib announced - during his participation in the second edition of the Asir Investment Forum - that the Asir region welcomed around 8 million tourists from within the Kingdom and abroad in 2024, reflecting the region's growing status as a major tourist destination in the Kingdom.
He emphasized that the Asir region possesses unique natural and cultural components that qualify it to be an attractive environment for tourism investment, noting that the coming years will see the addition of about 4,000 new hotel rooms to the tourism market in the region, supported by the tourism system.
The minister also discussed the ministry's efforts to attract global hospitality brands, which have started to head towards Asir due to its promising opportunities, praising the pivotal role played by the region's residents in sustaining the tourism sector, and confirming that the youth of the region represent the essential foundation in providing an authentic and distinguished tourism experience.
He added that the Asir region is no longer a seasonal destination limited to summer, but has become a year-round tourist attraction, thanks to its environmental and cultural diversity, with prominent attractions including Asiri arts such as: the Asiri cat, the variety of traditional costumes, and the local cuisine, which have contributed to establishing its unique tourism identity.
