نعت وزارة الإعلام رئيس التحرير الأسبق لصحيفة المدينة أسامة أحمد السباعي، بعد مسيرة حافلة بالعطاء، وكتب وزير الإعلام سلمان الدوسري: «غادرنا أمس صوت من أصوات الإعلام السعودي، وقلم رائد نتذكره؛ الأستاذ أسامة السباعي، الذي حمل أمانة الكلمة عقوداً، وترك أثراً باقياً في وجدان الجميع. نسأل الله له الرحمة، ولأسرته الصبر والسلوان».
يُذكر أن السباعي من الشخصيات المؤثرة في تاريخ الإعلام بالمملكة، إذ شغل مناصب عدة مهمة، من أبرزها رئاسة تحرير مجلة «اقرأ» وصحيفة «المدينة».
وهو حاصل على درجة الماجستير في الصحافة من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وينتمي إلى أسرة إعلامية عريقة، فهو نجل الأديب الرائد وشيخ الصحفيين أحمد السباعي، وشقيق الدكتور زهير السباعي.
The Ministry of Media mourned the former editor-in-chief of Al-Madina newspaper, Osama Ahmed Al-Sebai, after a career filled with contributions. Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari wrote: “Yesterday, we lost a voice from Saudi media, and a pioneering pen that we remember; Professor Osama Al-Sebai, who carried the trust of the word for decades and left a lasting impact in the hearts of all. We ask God to grant him mercy and to give his family patience and solace.”
It is noteworthy that Al-Sebai was one of the influential figures in the history of media in the Kingdom, having held several important positions, most notably the editorship of the magazine "Iqra" and Al-Madina newspaper.
He holds a master's degree in journalism from the United States of America and comes from a prestigious media family, being the son of the pioneering writer and Sheikh of journalists, Ahmed Al-Sebai, and the brother of Dr. Zuhair Al-Sebai.
