The regions of the Kingdom were not far from the historical moment that preceded the announcement of the unification of the country and its naming as "the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." Rather, the feelings of the citizens contributed to the path of unity and unification. King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud - may God have mercy on him - received support accompanied by congratulations and blessings for the unity of the country. When the royal decree No. 2716 was issued, and Thursday, the 21st of Jumada al-Awwal 1351 AH was chosen as the day to announce the unification, it was published in issue 406 of the newspaper "Um al-Qura," issued on September 23, 1932. Crowds of pledgers from all corners of the Kingdom flocked to meet their king and pledge allegiance hand in hand, giving their oath of loyalty and belonging.
For his part, historian Issa Al-Qusayr revealed to "Okaz" that the story of unifying the name of the Kingdom was linked to the integration of the feelings and aspirations of the king and the people.
He added that the system for unifying the Kingdom and naming it "the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" specified in its eighth article that Thursday, the 21st of Jumada al-Awwal in the year 1351 AH, was the day for announcing the unification. This aligns with the text of the royal decree published historically, noting that the announcement of the unification coincided with the homeland's sky being adorned in a beautiful garment; the regions were decorated with festive attire in celebration of this noble goal achieved under the Saudi flag. Signs of joy appeared on the faces of the people, while the squares of the regional emirates witnessed the gathering of the country's dignitaries and notable figures to celebrate our unity and pledge allegiance to the ruler, praying for King Abdulaziz for honor and support, and that day marked the beginning of a prosperous era for the Kingdom.
