Since the unification of the Kingdom in 1932 by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, Saudi generosity has followed a path that is inherited by generations and confirmed by numbers. Palestine has taken a prominent place in this record: Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, refugee camps, universities, hospitals, homes, schools, water, food, and budget support.
The act of giving has transformed from a social value into a humanitarian force with a cross-border impact, and the Saudi aid platform for Palestine records $5.577 billion, approximately 20.9 billion riyals, through 332 projects and contributions.
Of this total, support for Palestinian budgets reached $2.521 billion, about 9.45 billion riyals, while multi-sector humanitarian aid recorded $1.209 billion, along with $675 million for multi-sector development projects.
The numbers have taken a tangible form
In education, Saudi funding extended to more than 400 schools, supporting Al-Azhar, Birzeit, and Bethlehem universities with approximately 741 million riyals.
In health, about 525 million riyals were directed to establish and equip more than 30 health centers and 40 clinics, as well as support hospitals and treatment facilities, reaching services related to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In housing, spending exceeded 1.59 billion riyals, including the construction of more than 2,300 housing units and the restoration and reconstruction of about 60,000 homes in various Palestinian areas.
Saudi generosity was present in Jerusalem through support for Islamic endowments, in the West Bank through education, health, housing, and infrastructure, in Gaza through reconstruction, relief, food, medicine, and water, and in the diaspora camps through support for refugees and their basic services.
Saudi support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has also exceeded one billion dollars, impacting generations of Palestinians in education, health, relief, and social services.
An extended national value
Strategic analyst Eid Al-Eid states that generosity in the Saudi consciousness represents an extended national value from the individual to the state, taking on a deeper meaning when it transforms into an impact that preserves human dignity and creates opportunities for life. He believes that the Saudi experience has provided a model that links generosity with responsibility, making giving a part of the ethical and political presence of the Kingdom in its Arab and Islamic surroundings.
Al-Eid adds that Palestine serves as an extended witness to this meaning, as Saudi generosity has reached individuals in their homes, schools, hospitals, and camps, continuing through successive generations under the banner of a state that has made relief and giving a natural extension of community values.
On National Day, Saudi Arabia reads its history in a meaning that transcends numbers: “Our pride is in our generosity”; a memory of a state and a culture of community; from a hand that welcomes guests to a homeland that extends its hand to humanity, from a Saudi home known for its generosity to a state that has written in Palestine decades of giving.
