A member of the Saudi Bar Association, a member of the Permanent Bureau of the Arab Lawyers Union, a member of the Arab Lawyers Union, a member of the International Union of Lawyers, and the former head of the Municipal Elections Monitoring Committee in the Central Region, lawyer Kattab Fahd Al-Shammari, affirmed that the Saudi National Day represents a national occasion that recalls the Kingdom's journey from the epic of unification to the major transformation it is experiencing today. He pointed out that the slogan "Our Pride is Our Nature" embodies a system of inherited values that have shaped the Saudi identity and accompanied the nation's journey through its generations.
Al-Shammari said in his talk to "Okaz": "On National Day, we recall the story of a homeland whose unity was built on courage, determination, and faith. We remember the legacy of the unifier King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman - may God have mercy on him - and his men, and the values of chivalry, bravery, and loyalty they carried. We then see the extension of those values in the present of the Kingdom, its renaissance, and its aspirations."
Our Pride is Our Nature
Al-Shammari explained that this year's national identity encapsulates many features of Saudi society, adding: "Our pride stems from our nature; from courage, nobility, loyalty, and dignity, and from a community united in its pride for its leadership, homeland, and identity. These values have been passed down through generations and have become part of the formation of the Saudi individual wherever they are."
He indicated that the unity of the Kingdom, achieved by King Abdulaziz, established a strong and cohesive state, and his royal descendants continued the path of construction leading to the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Our Pride is Our Generosity
Al-Shammari emphasized that Saudi generosity represents a deep-rooted social and humanitarian value. "Generosity among Saudis is a daily inherited practice that begins at home and in gatherings, welcoming guests, and extends to the Kingdom's humanitarian stances towards peoples affected by disasters and crises."
He added that what the Kingdom provides through its relief and humanitarian institutions embodies the transition of the value of generosity from social behavior to an institutional Saudi action that reaches various parts of the world, reflecting the Kingdom's humanitarian presence and its positions towards the needy and the afflicted.
Our Pride is Our Solidarity and Authenticity
Al-Shammari stated that "solidarity" is one of the most expressive traits of the Saudi community's spirit. "When a situation calls for it, we find the community united; people stand by each other, and the values of altruism, cooperation, and social responsibility emerge."
He believes that this spirit is linked to the authenticity of the community and its identity, which has remained present despite rapid developmental transformations, pointing to its presence in gatherings, poetry, the Saudi ardha (dance), horses, camels, coffee, hospitality, and various elements of national heritage.
He added that the value of Saudi development lies in our ability to advance into the future while carrying our identity with us; authenticity is a source of strength, heritage is the memory of a nation, and identity is a bridge connecting new generations to their history.
Our Pride is Our Ambition
Al-Shammari affirmed that ambition has become one of the most prominent features of the new Saudi Arabia under the Vision 2030 initiative. "What we see today in projects and economic, social, and technological transformations reflects the level of ambition led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The vision has created a different phase in the concept of development and opened wide avenues for the Saudi individual."
He pointed out that diversifying the economy, empowering youth and women, attracting investments, developing tourism, culture, sports, and technology, and major projects all paint a picture of a Kingdom confidently moving towards the future, relying on its history and national capabilities.
Renewed Pride
Al-Shammari concluded his talk to "Okaz" by saying: "National Day is a renewed testament to a homeland that combines history with the future, authenticity with ambition, generosity with action, and solidarity with responsibility. We celebrate a homeland that began its modern journey with a great unification epic and continues today to write a new chapter of development and achievement."
He added: "On this National Day, we extend our highest congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and to the Saudi people, and we ask God to protect the Kingdom, its leadership, and its people, and to sustain its security, pride, and prosperity."
He concluded: "The meaning remains the same: Our pride is in our homeland... and our pride is in our nature."
