حمّلت المملكة المتحدة، مليشيا الحوثي المسؤولية الكاملة عن التصعيد في اليمن، مندّدةً باستمرار هجماتها على المملكة العربية السعودية، وتصعيد عملياتها العسكرية داخل اليمن، وتهديدها الملاحة الدولية والاستقرار الإقليمي.
وأكدت نائبة المندوب الدائم للمملكة المتحدة لدى الأمم المتحدة السفيرة كيت فوستر، خلال جلسة مجلس الأمن بشأن اليمن، أمس، تضامن بلادها مع المملكة والحكومة اليمنية الشرعية، وحقهما في الدفاع عن أمنهما وسيادتهما وفقًا للقانون الدولي، مشيرةً إلى أن مليشيا الحوثي تسعى إلى تعزيز سيطرتها على امتداد الساحل اليمني للبحر الأحمر وفي محيط مضيق باب المندب.
وحذّرت من أن تحركات الحوثيين تشكّل تهديدًا مباشرًا لأحد أهم طرق الملاحة العالمية، ولحرية الملاحة التي يعتمد عليها الاقتصاد العالمي، مؤكدةً أن استمرار التصعيد يفاقم المخاطر على الاستقرار الإقليمي.
The United Kingdom held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the escalation in Yemen, condemning their continued attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the escalation of their military operations within Yemen, and their threats to international navigation and regional stability.
During a Security Council session on Yemen yesterday, the UK’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Kate Foster, affirmed her country’s solidarity with the Kingdom and the legitimate Yemeni government, and their right to defend their security and sovereignty in accordance with international law, noting that the Houthi militia seeks to enhance its control along the Yemeni coastline of the Red Sea and in the vicinity of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
She warned that the movements of the Houthis pose a direct threat to one of the most important global shipping routes and to the freedom of navigation upon which the global economy relies, emphasizing that the continued escalation exacerbates the risks to regional stability.
