The Executive Vice President for Digital Transformation at the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Dr. Mohammed Al-Saqr, confirmed that digital transformation in the Grand Mosque has contributed to developing work models and enhancing the efficiency of services provided to the guests of Allah. He indicated that the ambition is for the Grand Mosque to be one of the smartest areas in the world by 2030.
He explained in a statement issued yesterday that "the mobility platform in the two holy mosques has digitized mobility operations, automated its procedures, and linked them with relevant entities and platforms, in addition to enabling electronic booking and payment," noting that this has contributed to reducing the waiting time from about two hours three years ago to approximately nine minutes, according to measurements from the last season.
He pointed out that digital transformation also included the system of iftar tables in the Grand Mosque, which exceed 38 million meals with cash transactions amounting to nearly half a billion riyals, indicating that the procedures that used to take about eight days are now completed in approximately eight minutes, while enhancing governance and transparency through automating procedures, separating roles, linking the system with the (Ihsan) platform, and having a third party for governance.
He clarified that the (Rafed) platform connects 18 systems and government entities to address reports in the two holy mosques, while the interactive map has contributed to addressing about 600,000 cases annually, representing nearly 10% of the total visitors to the Grand Mosque, which number around six million annually. He emphasized that work is ongoing to anticipate the future and employ smart technologies within the development plans for the two holy mosques, aiming to achieve the goal of making the Grand Mosque one of the smartest areas in the world by 2030.
