تشهد سماء المملكة بعد غروب شمس اليوم فرصة لرصد هلال شهر ربيع الأول باتجاه الأفق الغربي، في مشهد مناسب للرصد والتصوير عند صفاء الأجواء.
وأفاد رئيس الجمعية الفلكية بجدة المهندس ماجد أبو زاهرة أن القمر وصل إلى منزلة الاقتران يوم الأربعاء 12 أغسطس عند الساعة 08:37 مساءً بتوقيت مكة المكرمة، إيذاناً ببداية دورة قمرية جديدة، ليبدأ بعدها الهلال بالابتعاد تدريجياً عن الشمس والارتفاع في سماء المساء.
وأشار إلى أنه يمكن خلال رصد الهلال ملاحظة ظاهرة نور الأرض التي تظهر الجزء غير المضاء من القمر بإضاءة خافتة نتيجة انعكاس ضوء الشمس عن سطح الأرض، فيما يواصل القمر انتقاله شرقاً بين النجوم من ليلة إلى أخرى.

The head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Engineer Majid Abu Zahra, stated that the moon reached the conjunction phase on Wednesday, August 12, at 08:37 PM Mecca time, marking the beginning of a new lunar cycle. After that, the crescent will gradually move away from the sun and rise in the evening sky.
He pointed out that during the observation of the crescent, one can notice the phenomenon of Earthshine, which illuminates the unlit part of the moon with a faint glow due to the reflection of sunlight off the Earth's surface, while the moon continues its eastward movement among the stars from one night to another.
