أصدر وزير الثقافة الأمير بدر بن عبدالله بن فرحان، قراراً بتكليف الدكتور محمد حسن علوان، رئيساً لجامعة الرياض للفنون، ليتولى قيادة المرحلة المقبلة والإشراف على جاهزيتها الأكاديمية والتشغيلية، استعداداً لانطلاق برامجها التعليمية، والإشراف على إطلاق البرامج الأكاديمية، وتطوير الشراكات التعليمية والقطاعية، بما يسهم في إعداد كوادر سعودية مؤهلة في مجالات الفنون والثقافة والصناعات الإبداعية، وتعزيز دور الجامعة في تطوير التعليم العالي المتخصص بالمملكة.
ويحمل الدكتور علوان خبرة في القطاع الثقافي، إذ شغل منصب الرئيس التنفيذي لهيئة المسرح والفنون الأدائية منذ نوفمبر 2024م، وقبلها الرئيس التنفيذي لهيئة الأدب والنشر والترجمة خلال الفترة من 2020 إلى 2024م. كما يحمل درجة الدكتوراه في إدارة الأعمال الدولية من جامعة كارلتون الكندية، وماجستير إدارة الأعمال من جامعة بورتلاند الأمريكية، وبكالوريوس نظم معلومات الحاسب من جامعة الملك سعود.
ومن المقرر أن تستقبل جامعة الرياض للفنون أول دفعة من طلابها في برامج أكاديمية متخصصة تشمل المسرح والفنون الأدائية، والموسيقى، والأفلام، والإدارة الثقافية، وفق نموذج تعليمي يجمع بين الدراسة الأكاديمية والتطبيق العملي؛ بهدف تنمية المواهب الوطنية وإعداد خريجين يسهمون في دعم القطاع الثقافي والإبداعي.
وتُعد جامعة الرياض للفنون إحدى مبادرات وزارة الثقافة الهادفة إلى تعزيز التعليم العالي المتخصص في الفنون والثقافة، وتوسيع فرص الدراسة في المجالات الإبداعية، بما ينسجم مع مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030 لتنمية الكفاءات الوطنية وترسيخ مكانة الثقافة والفنون بوصفها أحد محركات التنمية.
The Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, issued a decision appointing Dr. Mohammed Hassan Alwan as the President of Riyadh University of Arts, to lead the upcoming phase and oversee its academic and operational readiness in preparation for the launch of its educational programs, supervise the launch of academic programs, and develop educational and sectoral partnerships, contributing to the preparation of qualified Saudi cadres in the fields of arts, culture, and creative industries, and enhancing the university's role in developing specialized higher education in the Kingdom.
Dr. Alwan has experience in the cultural sector, having served as the CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Authority since November 2024, and previously as the CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Authority from 2020 to 2024. He holds a PhD in International Business Administration from Carleton University in Canada, an MBA from Portland State University in the USA, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from King Saud University.
Riyadh University of Arts is set to welcome its first cohort of students in specialized academic programs that include theater and performing arts, music, film, and cultural management, following an educational model that combines academic study with practical application; aimed at nurturing national talents and preparing graduates who contribute to supporting the cultural and creative sector.
Riyadh University of Arts is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Culture aimed at enhancing specialized higher education in the arts and culture, and expanding study opportunities in creative fields, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to develop national competencies and establish the position of culture and arts as one of the drivers of development.
