صرّح المتحدث باسم وزارة الدفاع اللواء الركن تركي المالكي، بأن قوات الدفاع الجوي تمكنت من إحباط عدة محاولات لاستهداف المملكة بواسطة طائرات مسيّرة، عبر عمليات اعتراض وتدمير نُفّذت في مواقع مختلفة.
وأوضح اللواء المالكي أنه تم إسقاط ثلاث مسيّرات في مدينة الرياض بعد رصدها والتعامل معها بنجاح، وكذلك تم إحباط محاولات استهداف بثلاث مسيّرات أخرى بعد إسقاطها في مدينة الرياض، كما تم اعتراض وتدمير مسيّرة شرق الرياض في حادثة أخرى. وأضاف أن الدفاع الجوي اعترض في مناسبات مختلفة ثلاث مسيّرات شرق الرياض، وفي بيان آخر أعلن اعتراض وتدمير ستّ مسيّرات في المنطقة ذاتها، وتم اعتراض وتدمير مسيرة شرق الرياض، وفي حادثة أخرى تم اعتراض وتدمير ستّ مسيرات شرق الرياض.
وأشار اللواء المالكي كذلك إلى اعتراض وتدمير مسيّرة في الربع الخالي كانت متجهة نحو حقل شيبة، إضافة إلى إحباط محاولة استهداف الحي الدبلوماسي بالرياض بطائرة مسيّرة، دون تسجيل أي أضرار مادية أو إصابات بين المدنيين.
كما أكد أن الدفاع الجوي اعترض ودمر ثماني مسيّرات بعد دخولها المجال الجوي للمملكة، ضمن سلسلة من العمليات التي تنفذها القوات المسلحة للتعامل مع التهديدات الجوية والمحافظة على أمن وسلامة المواطنين والمقيمين.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that the air defense forces managed to thwart several attempts to target the Kingdom using drones, through interception and destruction operations carried out at various locations.
Major General Al-Maliki explained that three drones were shot down in Riyadh after being detected and successfully dealt with, and attempts to target with three other drones were also thwarted after they were shot down in Riyadh. Additionally, a drone was intercepted and destroyed east of Riyadh in another incident. He added that air defense intercepted three drones on different occasions east of Riyadh, and in another statement, he announced the interception and destruction of six drones in the same area, and a drone was intercepted and destroyed east of Riyadh, while in another incident, six drones were intercepted and destroyed east of Riyadh.
Major General Al-Maliki also mentioned the interception and destruction of a drone in the Empty Quarter that was heading towards the Shaybah field, in addition to thwarting an attempt to target the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh with a drone, with no material damage or injuries reported among civilians.
He also confirmed that air defense intercepted and destroyed eight drones after they entered the Kingdom's airspace, as part of a series of operations carried out by the armed forces to deal with aerial threats and maintain the security and safety of citizens and residents.
