The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed today (Thursday) the State of Kuwait's condemnation and strong denunciation of the attack launched by the Houthi militia on a Saudi ship while it was sailing in the Red Sea.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that the Houthi attack is a blatant violation of international law, a direct threat to maritime security and freedom of navigation, the safety of international trade, and energy supplies. It announced Kuwait's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its support for all measures taken to preserve its sovereignty and protect its security and interests, emphasizing Kuwait's rejection of any practices that could destabilize the security and stability of the region.

The ministry stressed the necessity of an immediate cessation of these assaults and adherence to the rules of international law that guarantee freedom of navigation and safe passage in international waterways.

On another note, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, warned the Houthis today (Thursday) about the dangers of their threats to international navigation.

Borrell stated, "The Houthi group in Yemen must stop all activities that jeopardize international navigation and the lives of sailors," adding that the latest threats issued by the Houthis against maritime traffic pose a direct threat to stability in the region and represent a serious escalation.

A responsible source in the Saudi Public Transport Authority announced that the ENCELIA ship, belonging to one of the Saudi companies, was targeted while sailing in the Red Sea, resulting in a fire at the front of the ship, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
