U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth threatened today (Thursday) to resume war and impose a blockade on Iran if it does not comply with the agreement.

Hegseth told reporters in Brussels following NATO defense ministers' meetings: "The United States is prepared to resume war on Iran and impose a strict blockade if Tehran does not adhere to the agreement." He added that America's primary goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The U.S. Secretary of War noted that "there are European countries willing to participate in efforts related to the Strait of Hormuz," and called on Europeans to take part in the mine-clearing operation in the strait.

Hegseth expressed hope that the countries benefiting from the Strait of Hormuz would take action to open it, emphasizing that it is an international and vital passage for many countries around the world, but we do not rely on it.

He added: "Changes in the presence of U.S. forces in the Middle East depend on the circumstances," stressing that "our presence in the Middle East is linked to Iran's response and adherence to the memorandum of understanding."

He pointed out that President Donald Trump was clear that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons and that any negotiations will revolve around that.

The U.S. Secretary of War considered the agreement with Iran to be the result of strength through the bombing and blockade carried out by his forces, and not like previous agreements.

President Donald Trump stated that reaching the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran was not easy, during the signing ceremony of the agreement at the Palace of Versailles in France.

For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron said: "This agreement paves the way for lasting peace and will allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz," adding that it will also contribute to lowering energy prices.
