توفي أحد أعظم أساطير عالم الموضة الإيطالي والعالمي فالنتينو غارافاني، عن عمر يناهز 93 عاماً، بعد مسيرة فنية استثنائية امتدت لأكثر من ستة عقود، حيث أصبح اسمه مرادفاً للأناقة الفاخرة والألوان الجريئة والتصاميم الرومانسية التي ألبست أشهر نساء العالم.

وأعلنت دار فالنتينو الرسمية وفاة المصمم الإيطالي الأسطوري في منزله بروما، محاطاً بأقرب أصدقائه وعائلته، بعد صراع قصير مع المرض، ووصفت الدار في بيان رسمي رحيله بأنه «خسارة لا تعوض لعالم الموضة»، مؤكدة أن إرثه سيظل حياً في كل قطعة تحمل توقيعه. ولد فالنتينو غارافاني في 11 مايو 1932 في مدينة فوغيرا بشمال إيطاليا، وبدأ مسيرته في عالم الأزياء في باريس في الخمسينيات، حيث تدرب تحت إشراف كبار المصممين مثل جان داسيه وغي لاروش. في عام 1960، أسس داره الخاصة في روما، وسرعان ما أصبحت من أبرز دور الأزياء العالمية، معروفة بـ«اللون الأحمر فالنتينو» الذي أصبح علامة تجارية عالمية.

وفي عام 2007، بيع الدار لمجموعة ماريوت مقابل مليارات الدولارات، لكنه ظل يشرف عليها حتى تقاعده الرسمي عام 2008، واستمر اسمه يتردد كرمز للفخامة الإيطالية الكلاسيكية.
ويُعد فالنتينو غارافاني أحد أبرز أعمدة «المدرسة الإيطالية» في عالم الأزياء، إلى جانب جورجيو أرماني وجياني فيرساتشي، حيث اشتهر بتصاميمه التي تجمع بين الكلاسيكية الرومانسية والجرأة اللونية، خصوصا استخدامه المميز للأحمر القاني الذي أصبح علامته التجارية.
