شاركت المملكة العربية ممثلة في وزارة السياحة، في احتفال منظمة الأمم المتحدة للسياحة بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للسياحة الذي يوافق 27 من سبتمبر من كل عام، إذ يأتي احتفال هذا العام تحت شعار «السياحة والتحول المستدام»، بهدف رفع مستوى الوعي بأهمية القطاع السياحي وقيمته الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية والسياسية، وإبراز دوره في دعم مسيرة التنمية المستدامة عبر الفعاليات والمؤتمرات والمعارض العالمية.
وتأتي مشاركة الوزارة في هذه المناسبة العالمية في إطار حرص المملكة على مواكبة الجهود الدولية لتحقيق الاستدامة في قطاع السياحة، في إطار إيمانها بالدور المحوري الذي يلعبه قطاع السفر والسياحة في تعزيز التواصل بين الشعوب والثقافات وتوفير الوظائف، إضافة إلى فرص غير مباشرة في قطاعات أخرى مثل الزراعة والصناعات الغذائية والنقل والبنية التحتية في كل أنحاء العالم.
كما تأتي مشاركة الوزارة في اليوم العالمي للسياحة في وقتٍ يواصل القطاع السياحي بالمملكة تحقيق القفزات في نمو أعداد السياح الوافدين والمحليين في الوجهات السياحية المتعددة في المملكة، إذ وصل إجمالي عدد السياح المحليين والوافدين من الخارج في عام (2024) إلى حوالى (116) مليون سائح، بنسبة نمو بلغت (6%) مقارنةً بعام (2023)، في حين بلغ إجمالي الإنفاق السياحي في المملكة للسياحة المحلية والوافدة من الخارج نحو (284) مليار ريال، بنسبة نمو (11%) مقارنةً بعام (2023).
وحققت المملكة أعلى رقم تاريخي في عدد السيّاح الوافدين من الخارج بلغ حوالى (30) مليون سائح لعام (2024)، بنسبة نمو بلغت (8%) مقارنةً بعام (2023)، فيما وصل إجمالي إنفاق السياح الوافدين من الخارج إلى (168.5) مليار ريال، بنسبة نمو (19%) مقارنةً بعام (2023).
وواصلت المملكة تصدر المؤشرات الدولية المتعلقة بالسياحية خلال العام الحالي، فقد احتلت المملكة المركز الأول عالمياً أعلى وجهة سياحية في نسبة نمو إيرادات السيّاح الدوليين خلال الربع الأول من عام 2025 مقارنةً بالفترة المماثلة من العام 2019، وذلك وفقاً لتقرير باروميتر السياحة العالمية الصادر في شهر مايو 2025 من منظمة الأمم المتحدة للسياحة، وسجلت المملكة نمواً في أعداد السياح الدوليين بنسبة (102%) خلال الربع الأول من العام 2025 مقارنةً بالفترة المماثلة من العام 2019.
يذكر أن اعتماد اليوم العالمي للسياحة يعود إلى عام 1970 حينما أقرت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للسياحة، نظامها الأساسي ليشكل علامة فارقة في مسار السياحة الدولية، ويسهم في تعزيز دورها لتحقيق أهداف الاستدامة والازدهار، وتشجيع الاستثمار في هذا القطاع الحيوي الذي يُسلط الضوء سنوياً على محور رئيسي من محاوره عبر اختيار شعار مخصص لكل عام.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Tourism, participated in the United Nations World Tourism Organization's celebration of World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27 each year. This year's celebration comes under the theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation," aiming to raise awareness about the importance of the tourism sector and its economic, social, cultural, and political value, as well as highlighting its role in supporting sustainable development through global events, conferences, and exhibitions.
The Ministry's participation in this global occasion reflects the Kingdom's commitment to keeping pace with international efforts to achieve sustainability in the tourism sector, based on its belief in the pivotal role that the travel and tourism sector plays in enhancing communication between peoples and cultures and providing jobs, in addition to indirect opportunities in other sectors such as agriculture, food industries, transportation, and infrastructure worldwide.
The Ministry's participation in World Tourism Day also comes at a time when the tourism sector in the Kingdom continues to achieve leaps in the growth of incoming and domestic tourist numbers in various tourist destinations across the Kingdom. The total number of domestic and incoming tourists in 2024 reached approximately 116 million tourists, with a growth rate of 6% compared to 2023, while the total tourism spending in the Kingdom for domestic and incoming tourism from abroad amounted to about 284 billion riyals, with a growth rate of 11% compared to 2023.
The Kingdom achieved a historic high in the number of incoming tourists from abroad, reaching approximately 30 million tourists in 2024, with a growth rate of 8% compared to 2023, while the total spending of incoming tourists from abroad reached 168.5 billion riyals, with a growth rate of 19% compared to 2023.
The Kingdom continued to lead international tourism indicators this year, ranking first globally as the highest tourist destination in terms of growth in international tourist revenues during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2019, according to the Global Tourism Barometer report issued in May 2025 by the United Nations World Tourism Organization. The Kingdom recorded a growth in the number of international tourists of 102% during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2019.
It is worth noting that the establishment of World Tourism Day dates back to 1970 when the United Nations World Tourism Organization adopted its constitution, marking a significant milestone in the path of international tourism, contributing to enhancing its role in achieving sustainability and prosperity goals, and encouraging investment in this vital sector, which annually highlights a key theme by selecting a specific slogan for each year.
