حافظ الدولار الأمريكي على مكاسبه اليوم، مع تقييم المستثمرين آفاق السياسة النقدية لمجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي بعد صدور بيانات تضخم جاءت متوافقة مع التوقعات.
واستقر مؤشر الدولار عند 100.03 نقطة بحلول الساعة 07:24 بتوقيت غرينتش، بعدما ارتفع 0.2% في الجلسة السابقة.
وأظهرت بيانات التضخم ارتفاع أسعار المستهلكين في الولايات المتحدة بنسبة 0.1% خلال يوليو الماضي، فيما تباطأ التضخم السنوي إلى 3.4% من 3.5% في يونيو.
وارتفع التضخم الأساسي، الذي يستبعد أسعار الغذاء والطاقة، بنسبة 0.2% على أساس شهري و2.5% على أساس سنوي.
وأسهمت البيانات في خفض توقعات الأسواق لرفع أسعار الفائدة في اجتماع مجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي خلال سبتمبر القادم إلى نحو 40%، مقارنة بـ54% قبل صدورها.
وفي أسواق العملات، استقر الدولار قرب أعلى مستوياته في أسبوعين مقابل الين الياباني عند نحو 159.40 يناً، فيما انخفض الدولار الأسترالي بنسبة 0.2% أمام العملة الأمريكية.
The US dollar maintained its gains today, as investors assessed the outlook for the Federal Reserve's monetary policy following inflation data that came in line with expectations.
The dollar index stabilized at 100.03 points by 07:24 GMT, after rising 0.2% in the previous session.
Inflation data showed that consumer prices in the United States rose by 0.1% in July, while annual inflation slowed to 3.4% from 3.5% in June.
Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, increased by 0.2% month-on-month and 2.5% year-on-year.
The data contributed to lowering market expectations for an interest rate hike at the Federal Reserve's meeting in September to about 40%, compared to 54% before the data was released.
In the currency markets, the dollar remained near its highest levels in two weeks against the Japanese yen at around 159.40 yen, while the Australian dollar fell by 0.2% against the US currency.
