قال رئيس بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي في مينيابوليس «نيل كاشكاري»: «إن اتساع الضغوط التضخمية في الاقتصاد الأمريكي دفعه إلى توقع رفع أسعار الفائدة مرة واحدة خلال العام الحالي، ضمن أحدث التوقعات الاقتصادية الصادرة عن المصرف المركزي».
وأوضح في مقابلة مع وكالة «بلومبرج» اليوم (الجمعة) أن مخاوفه لا تقتصر على تداعيات الحرب في إيران وارتفاع أسعار النفط، بل تمتد إلى ما وصفه بانتشار الضغوط التضخمية عبر قطاعات مختلفة من الاقتصاد.
وأشار «كاشكاري» إلى أن التضخم أصبح أكثر اتساعاً واستمراراً، وهو ما قد يتطلب تشديداً إضافياً للسياسة النقدية، مضيفاً أن قراراته التصويتية ستظل رهناً بالبيانات الاقتصادية القادمة.
وتابع أن التحدي الرئيسي أمام الفيدرالي هو إعادة التضخم إلى مستهدفه البالغ 2% خلال فترة معقولة، من دون إلحاق ضرر كبير بسوق العمل، لافتاً إلى أن جهود مكافحة التضخم أصبحت أكثر تعقيداً بفعل سلسلة من صدمات العرض.
The President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, "Neel Kashkari," stated: "The widening inflationary pressures in the U.S. economy have led him to expect a rate hike once during the current year, according to the latest economic forecasts issued by the central bank."
He explained in an interview with Bloomberg today (Friday) that his concerns are not limited to the repercussions of the war in Iran and rising oil prices, but extend to what he described as the spread of inflationary pressures across various sectors of the economy.
Kashkari noted that inflation has become more widespread and persistent, which may require additional tightening of monetary policy, adding that his voting decisions will remain contingent on upcoming economic data.
He continued that the main challenge for the Fed is to bring inflation back to its target of 2% within a reasonable timeframe, without causing significant harm to the labor market, pointing out that efforts to combat inflation have become more complicated due to a series of supply shocks.
