شددت وزارة التجارة على جميع الشركات والمؤسسات التجارية والمستوردين ومنافذ البيع بضرورة التوقف عن بيع أو تداول أي سلع أو مواد تحتوي على مادة «الأسبستوس»، وطلبت إبلاغ الوزارة عن الكميات المتوافرة لديهم كمخزون، تمهيداً لوضع برامج مناسبة للتخلص منها.
وأوضحت الوزارة أن هذا الإجراء يأتي استناداً إلى ما ورد من وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة بشأن إعداد خطة إستراتيجية شاملة للتعامل مع السلع والمواد المحتوية على مادة الأسبستوس، في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى متابعة حظر هذه المادة والتعامل الآمن معها.
كما طلبت الوزارة من المنشآت تزويد إدارة الفسح الكيميائي بوزارة التجارة بالبيانات والمعلومات المتعلقة بأي سلعة تحتوي على مادة الأسبستوس عبر البريد الإلكتروني المخصص لذلك، لضمان حصر المنتجات الموجودة في الأسواق والمخازن ودعم الجهود التنظيمية ذات الصلة.
ويأتي هذا التحرك ضمن الإجراءات الحكومية الهادفة إلى تعزيز الرقابة على المواد المحظورة ورفع مستوى الامتثال للأنظمة والتعليمات المتعلقة بحماية الصحة العامة والبيئة.
وكان مجلس الوزراء قد وافق على تشكيل لجنة دائمة تُعنى بكل ما يتصل بمادة الأسبستوس ومتابعة حظرها، كما كُلفت الجهات المختصة بإعداد إستراتيجية شاملة للتعامل مع هذه المادة ومتابعة تنفيذ إجراءات الحظر.
ويأتي القرار امتداداً لقرارات سابقة نصت على منع استخدام الأسبستوس واستيراده وتصديره وتصنيعه، واستبداله في المباني وشبكات المياه والتخلص الآمن منه.
The Ministry of Commerce emphasized to all companies, commercial institutions, importers, and sales outlets the necessity of stopping the sale or trading of any goods or materials containing "asbestos." It requested that the ministry be informed about the quantities available in their stock, in preparation for implementing suitable programs for their disposal.
The ministry clarified that this action comes based on what was received from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture regarding the preparation of a comprehensive strategic plan to deal with goods and materials containing asbestos, as part of efforts aimed at monitoring the ban on this substance and ensuring safe handling of it.
The ministry also requested that establishments provide the Chemical Clearance Department at the Ministry of Commerce with data and information related to any goods containing asbestos via the designated email, to ensure the inventory of products present in markets and warehouses and to support related regulatory efforts.
This move is part of government measures aimed at enhancing oversight of banned materials and increasing compliance with regulations and instructions related to public health and environmental protection.
The Council of Ministers had approved the formation of a permanent committee concerned with all matters related to asbestos and monitoring its ban. Relevant authorities were also tasked with preparing a comprehensive strategy to deal with this substance and follow up on the implementation of ban procedures.
This decision extends previous decisions that stipulated the prohibition of the use, import, export, and manufacture of asbestos, as well as its replacement in buildings and water networks and its safe disposal.
