تراجعت أسعار الذهب اليوم (الجمعة) مع ارتفاع الدولار إلى أعلى مستوى له في شهر تقريباً، في وقت يترقب فيه المستثمرون تقريراً مهماً عن التضخم في وقت لاحق من اليوم للحصول على مزيد من المؤشرات حول مسار السياسة النقدية في الولايات المتحدة.
وانخفض الذهب في المعاملات الفورية 0.1% إلى 4995.91 دولار للأوقية.
وزادت العقود الأميركية الآجلة للذهب تسليم شهر أبريل 0.3% إلى 5013.60 دولار.
يتجه الدولار لتحقيق أقوى أداء أسبوعي منذ شهر أكتوبر مدعوماً بسلسلة من البيانات الاقتصادية الأفضل من المتوقع وتقديرات بميل «مجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي» (البنك المركزي الأميركي) بصورة أكبر للتشديد النقدي، إلى جانب التوترات بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران.
ويترقب المستثمرون بيانات الإنفاق الاستهلاكي الشخصي، وهو مقياس التضخم المفضل للبنك المركزي، للحصول على المزيد من المؤشرات حول مسار السياسة النقدية الأميركية. وعادة ما يتجه الذهب الذي لا يدر عوائد للارتفاع في أوقات أسعار الفائدة المنخفضة.
Gold prices fell today (Friday) as the dollar rose to its highest level in nearly a month, while investors await an important report on inflation later today for more indications on the direction of monetary policy in the United States.
Gold dropped 0.1% in spot transactions to $4,995.91 per ounce.
U.S. gold futures for April delivery rose 0.3% to $5,013.60.
The dollar is on track for its strongest weekly performance since October, supported by a series of better-than-expected economic data and estimates of the Federal Reserve's (U.S. central bank) increased inclination towards monetary tightening, alongside tensions between the United States and Iran.
Investors are awaiting personal consumption expenditure data, the central bank's preferred measure of inflation, for more indications on the direction of U.S. monetary policy. Typically, gold, which does not yield returns, tends to rise during periods of low interest rates.
