U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on (Thursday) that his country has signed a trade agreement with China. He did not mention any further details regarding the deal that was made with China.

Trump also stated that the United States will sign an agreement with India soon.

The U.S. President's remarks came during an event at the White House aimed at pressuring Congress to expedite the approval of the government spending bill before the Fourth of July holiday in the United States. The United States and China had reached a framework for a trade agreement after negotiations in the British capital, London, earlier in June.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, described those negotiations as having "completed the terms" of an agreement reached by the world's two largest economies in May in the Swiss city of Geneva to reduce mutual tariffs.

In turn, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that Trump may extend the deadlines he imposed himself for suspending mutual tariffs on many of the United States' trading partners, which are set for July 8 and 9.
