أعلنت وزارة المالية الكندية، في بيان، أن الحكومة الكندية وبعض أوثق حلفائها يعتزمون خفض سقف سعر النفط الروسي بسبب حربها المستمرة في أوكرانيا.
وأفاد البيان أن كندا والاتحاد الأوروبي وبريطانيا سيخفضون سقف سعر النفط الخام الروسي المنقول بحراً من 60 دولاراً للبرميل إلى 47.60 دولار.
وبذلك تنضم كندا إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي وبريطانيا اللذين أعلنا في يوليو الماضي خفض سقف سعر الخام الروسي، في إطار استهدافهما إيرادات موسكو النفطية وزيادة الضغط عليها بسبب الحرب.
وقال وزير المالية فرانسوا فيليب شامبين: «بخفض سقف سعر النفط الخام الروسي، تصعّد كندا وشركاؤها الضغط الاقتصادي، وتقيّد مصدراً حيوياً لتمويل الحرب الروسية غير الشرعية».
وكان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، قد طالب الهند بوقف شراء النفط الروسي أو مواجهة رسوم جمركية عقابية. وهو ما حصل، إذ فرض عليها رسوماً إضافية بنسبة 25%.
لكن المشكلة بالنسبة لرئيس الوزراء الهندي ناريندرا مودي هي أن وقف شراء بلاده النفط الروسي قد لا يكون أمراً سهلاً، وفق ما ذكرت صحيفة «فاينانشال تايمز».
وتشتري الهند نحو 90% من نفطها الخام من الخارج، وكانت أكبر سوق للنفط الروسي المنقول بحراً منذ عام 2023، وفقاً لبيانات تتبع السفن التي جمعتها شركة «كبلر». وتستورد الهند نحو 5 ملايين برميل من النفط يومياً، يأتي مليونان منها من روسيا.

The Canadian Ministry of Finance announced in a statement that the Canadian government and some of its closest allies intend to lower the price cap on Russian oil due to its ongoing war in Ukraine.
The statement indicated that Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom will reduce the price cap on seaborne Russian crude oil from $60 per barrel to $47.60.
Thus, Canada joins the European Union and the United Kingdom, which announced last July the reduction of the price cap on Russian crude as part of their efforts to target Moscow's oil revenues and increase pressure on it due to the war.
Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said, “By lowering the price cap on Russian crude oil, Canada and its partners are escalating economic pressure and constraining a vital source of funding for the illegal Russian war.”
Former U.S. President Donald Trump had urged India to stop purchasing Russian oil or face punitive tariffs. This occurred, as India was imposed an additional 25% tariff.
However, the problem for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is that halting his country's purchase of Russian oil may not be an easy matter, according to the Financial Times.
India imports about 90% of its crude oil from abroad and has been the largest market for seaborne Russian oil since 2023, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Kepler. India imports about 5 million barrels of oil daily, of which two million come from Russia.
