أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أن الرسوم الجمركية على صادرات الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى الولايات المتحدة لن تقل عن 15%، وذلك مع بدء محادثات حاسمة في أسكتلندا مع رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية أورسولا فون دير لاين.
ورداً على سؤال من الصحافيين حول هذا الاحتمال قبيل لقائه مع فون دير لاين، قال ترمب: «كلا». وفيما أعرب عن أمله في حل بعض القضايا، أكد أن المنتجات الدوائية لن تكون جزءاً من الاتفاق.
يذكر أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب قد حدد في أوائل أبريل الماضي مهلة 90 يوماً للمحادثات التجارية بين الاتحاد الأوروبي والولايات المتحدة التي كان من المقرر أن تنتهي في التاسع من يوليو الجاري.
وفي 24 من مايو الماضي، تراجع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب عن تهديده بتسريع فرض رسوم جمركية بنسبة 50% على الواردات من الاتحاد الأوروبي، ووافق على تمديد الموعد النهائي للمحادثات التجارية حتى التاسع من يوليو بعد أن قالت رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية إن الاتحاد الأوروبي بحاجة إلى مزيد من الوقت للتوصل إلى اتفاق جيد.
وذكر متحدثون باسم المفوضية الأوروبية أن رئيسة المفوضية أورسولا فون دير لاين توجهت إلى أسكتلندا للاجتماع مع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بعد ظهر أمس، فيما قال مسؤولون في التكتل إن الجانبين يقتربان من إبرام اتفاق تجاري.
وأشار ترمب للصحافيين لدى وصوله إلى أسكتلندا إلى أنه يتطلع إلى لقاء فون دير لاين، ووصفها بأنها زعيمة تحظى باحترام كبير، وذلك في إطار زيارة تستغرق بضعة أيام لممارسة رياضة الغولف وعقد اجتماعات ثنائية.
وذكر ترمب وجود فرصة 50% لتوصل الولايات المتحدة والاتحاد الأوروبي، المؤلف من 27 دولة، إلى اتفاق تجاري إطاري.
