The British government has pledged to allocate £1.5 billion ($2 billion) to establish at least six factories and support the purchase of around seven thousand long-range weapons made in the UK.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has committed to launching a wave of new investments to transform the armed forces into a "fully integrated and powerful fighting machine" as part of the government's review of its defense policies.

Starmer stated that he will invest in an army that is "more integrated, ready, and lethal than ever before," according to the British news agency (PA Media).

The new funding is expected to bring UK spending on munitions to £6 billion during the current parliamentary session and will support around 1,800 jobs across the country.

Starmer described the review as a "radical plan" that will drive investments in shipbuilding, drone technology, and cybersecurity.

In an article for the British newspaper "The Sun," Starmer wrote that preparing for tomorrow's threats means "bringing together all our capabilities, from drones to artillery to human instinct and intelligence, into one powerful and integrated fighting machine."

Starmer said, "To achieve this, we will announce a wave of new investments in our armed forces on land, in the air, and at sea."

He added, "We will invest in a more integrated, ready, and lethal fighting force than ever before, restoring Britain to its rightful place as a leader in defense and a leader in NATO, and we will provide better equipment for our soldiers when they fight abroad so they can utilize a full range of conventional and technological capabilities."
