Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan Al-Khatib announced that his country intends to reduce the fees for the conformity assessment of halal products imported to Egypt by a range of 30 to 50%.

The official indicated that the government is determined to reach an agreement with the companies that will be allowed to issue halal certificates to reduce the fee amount by up to 50%.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated during the activities of the Egyptian-American Business Forum held in Cairo today, Sunday, that American dairy products and their derivatives will be completely removed from the requirement that imports from them be accompanied by a halal certificate.
Government spokesperson Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani clarified that the facilitations introduced by the government in this regard include the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture taking the necessary measures to diversify and increase the number of entities authorized to issue halal certificates, which contributes to enhancing competition and providing a greater opportunity for the private sector.
He added: "There have been complaints about this matter, and thus the increase and diversification of these companies will be allowed," according to the government spokesperson.
