The incident dates back to when Ahmed Maher made television statements, claiming that the lead role in the series (Raafat El-Hagan) was initially withdrawn from the artist Mahmoud Abdel Aziz before being returned to him later, alleging that former President Hosni Mubarak intervened to reinstate it while the latter was in Saudi Arabia; a narrative that the Actors' Syndicate has categorically denied.
It is classified as one of the most famous national works in Egyptian drama, as it is based on a story inspired by the file of Rafaat El-Gamal, achieving great success since its airing and still enjoys public demand during its re-broadcast.
