The Wadi Khumran bridge project in the Al-Harth governorate of the Jazan region did not withstand the rainwater for more than an hour, as the rains revealed the deterioration of the asphalt layer that was implemented about four months ago. This raised questions among the users of the road connecting the villages of Al-Raha and the main Al-Harth road regarding the quality of the execution and whether the project met the approved specifications.
Several road users told "Okaz": The rainwater revealed - as they described - the poor execution of the asphalt layer, demanding that the relevant authorities inspect the project and hold accountable the party responsible for its non-compliance with the approved specifications and standards.
Ahmed Ali explained that the asphalt layer implemented on the bridge is "very weak" and did not withstand the beginning of the rainy season, pointing out at the same time that the road needs rehabilitation due to the large number of potholes and bumps that hinder vehicle movement.
For his part, Abdullah Abdulrahman confirmed that the state has spared no effort in implementing projects, but such projects require close monitoring and supervision from the overseeing authorities during the execution phases, indicating that more than one report has been submitted regarding the condition of the road, without any response so far.
The bridge and the road connecting the villages of Al-Raha and the main Al-Harth road suffer from potholes and damage, while residents are calling for its repair and enhancement, given its importance in serving more than 20 villages, in addition to the schools, health centers, and security facilities located along the road.
