Residents of the Al-Hamda center, which is part of the Tathleeth governorate, have called on the relevant authorities to rehabilitate, expand, and pave the road that connects Al-Hamda to the village of "Qurra," passing through the Arqa of Al-Sulaiman until the "Riyadh - Khamis Mushait" highway.
Abdullah Mohammed Al-Qahtani, one of the residents of Al-Hamda in the Asir region, pointed out that the road from Al-Hamda to the village of "Qurra" is in poor condition despite its importance for connectivity and heavy traffic. Residents of Al-Hamda who wish to travel to Arqa, Al-Hamda, Khamis Mushait, and Abha prefer to use this road to shorten the distance. The length of the road that needs repair and paving is estimated at only 25 kilometers, including approximately 10 kilometers between Al-Hamda and Qurra, and 15 kilometers from Qurra to the Arqa center. Al-Qahtani urged the Ministries of Municipalities and Transport, according to their respective jurisdictions, to address the condition of the road, pave it, and create culverts for the valleys.
For his part, Hassan Ayed Al-Qahtani explained to "Okaz" that the road is important to the residents of Al-Hamda, Qurra, and the surrounding areas, but it is dilapidated, lacks culverts, and the asphalt layer is weak and cannot withstand pressure. Despite the short distance of this road, it has not received attention from the relevant authority, whether it be transport or municipalities. He pointed out that the course of Wadi Al-Rasfa needs a culvert after the village of Qurra towards the Arqa of Al-Sulaiman, as well as Wadi Al-Raseen between the village of Qurra and the Arqa center, where concrete barriers were built but no culverts for the floods were created, which led to the erosion of the road and halted traffic until the valley dried up. Al-Qahtani is calling for attention to the road that serves the residents and others, as it is used by employees, students, and patients for their commutes instead of taking longer routes.
