Who among us, as Saudi fans, has not experienced the same moment of anxiety that His Highness the beloved Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki, displayed in a poignant moment of concern during the penalty shootout, specifically during the last kick, which the referee resorted to in the semifinal match held last Saturday evening between the Saudi and Qatari national teams?
- Abu Turki was not in that picture experiencing a state of fear that could deprive the Green Team of celebrating its superiority in the preliminary round, and the high technical level it presented through three consecutive victories, during which no goal was scored against it, and its net remained untouched; rather, he was genuinely engaged with the event, hoping that the scales would "sway" in favor of our national team, making it the first party in the final, and with God's permission, the champion of Gulf 27.
- Penalty kicks are referred to as "nerve kicks," and while the primary focus is on the players and their ability to control their nerves and concentration before executing them, if we compare the nerves of the players to those of the fans, there is no comparison; I don't think anyone wishes to be in the very difficult position that the player finds himself in. I believe that a high-ranking official like the Minister of Sports is also in an enviable position; he shares the same anxiety as the players, given that he is part of a sports system that is keen on the superiority of Saudi football in this tournament and in all tournaments, and without a doubt, he fears that a single penalty kick could turn the dream of the title into a mirage.
- And who among us, as fans, did not rejoice as our beloved prince did, in awe and admiration for the exceptional goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais? After the national team player Mukhtar Ali scored the goal that the referee's whistle declared as our team's victory and qualification for the final match, His Highness's "spontaneous" moment of joy was clearly evident, reflected in his smile and in the congratulatory image he shared with the President of the Saudi Football Federation, Mr. Badr Al-Raziza, who was beside him on the podium. This image encapsulates a special relationship free from "affectation" and reflects the humility that His Highness is known for, a humility that has brought him closer to the players and made him loved by everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing him.
- Another image of his great humility is seen in his interest in attending the national team's training sessions, as if with this presence, devoid of the aura of authority and the "prestige" of his position and princely status, he does not want to place any "psychological pressure" on the players before any match or tournament. His presence signifies nothing more than a visit for reassurance, support, and encouragement, with the conviction that every player appreciates the "trust" and responsibility placed upon him toward his country, and does not need the official to remind him of it in a speech directed at him during a meeting or through his appearance in any media outlet.
- The feelings of "confidence" that stir in the heart of every player are not foreign to His Highness; he has lived their valuable meanings as a "sports" citizen and has previously tasted the flavor of "joy" when the concept of achieving a championship title transcended to something much greater, represented in a great joy that is unmatched in its greatness by loyalty to the homeland and serving it and honoring it in sports arenas. He has unforgettable experiences and moments that have brought him very close to the feelings of his fellow players, and there is no need for him to remind them of it; he knows that it is firmly rooted in their hearts and minds.
- As for the "story of the prince's joy photo," it was captured by the lens of an artistic photographer, and it inspired me to write a prose poem of love and admiration, in a whisper I hope reaches His Highness, with all hope that I can congratulate him next Tuesday evening and the entire Saudi people on the victory of the Saudi Green Team over the Emirati national team, in both performance and result, and achieving the championship title with God's help and success, and then with the determination of men who share the same passion for a long-awaited tournament.
- A final whisper
If this wish is fulfilled with a blessed bouquet, the image of the joy of the Gulf 27 Cup will serve as a gift that remains a memory in the prince's mind, on a Saudi wedding night adorned in the color of gold.
