I read your words and found them to be truly intended for falsehood, and I found in them the embellishments of speech that hide the shame of fanaticism.
You say: The representative of the nation represents himself!
So I say to you: Does the palm tree represent itself or does it represent the land in which it grew?
And does the sword represent its blade or the hand that wields it?
If a Saudi team plays in Tehran or Tokyo, the anthem that is played is not the anthem of its club, and the flag that is raised is not the emblem of its club. It is our flag, green like the heart, and our anthem to which we stand in reverence. Whoever betrays it there betrays the flag, and whoever wishes for its downfall wishes for the fall of the banner, and do not tell me he supports his club, for clubs may fade, but the nation remains.
And you say: The Football Federation must amend!
Yes, amend, and we do not disagree. But justice in institutions does not justify the corruption in hearts. If the federation wrongs you, then complain to the federation, and do not gloat over the nation. What is the nation’s fault if an employee makes a mistake?
And you say: The fans differ, and belonging creates new feelings!
You are right. Belonging creates feelings, but it does not create betrayal. Loving your club does not mean hating your national club abroad.
As for your statement: "He supports his team and any team playing against his team's rival"
This is not a golden rule; this is a rule of ignorance. This is the tribalism that our noble Messenger spoke about: "Leave it, for it is foul."
You rejoice if a Saudi loses to a foreigner, just because he is a rival to your team? What glory is this? And what belonging is this? You have made football an idol, and made your team a homeland, and your homeland a rival team.
Then you conclude and say: Do we want the fans to practice dissimulation?
No, by God, we do not want dissimulation; we want honesty.
Dissimulation is to show love for the nation while harboring hatred for its representative.
Dissimulation is to write "We are all representatives of the nation" and secretly celebrate its loss.
Dissimulation is what you are practicing now, when you wear the garment of realism to hide the shame of fanaticism.
We do not ask you for hypocrisy; we ask you to rise.
Elevate your thinking, for the nation is greater than your club, greater than your favorite player, and greater than your club president.
If your determination is a club, then your determination is a club; and if your determination is a nation, then you are a nation.
We do not support Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad, or Al-Ahli in Asia,
We support Saudi Arabia.
