I cannot put all my eggs in one basket when talking about sports programs, as there is a disparity in form and content. Therefore, I will take you on a free tour with the aim of refreshing the memory of those who believe that the future is brighter than the past.
There is no objection to your choices, but viewers are no longer eager for programs, and I mean an entire generation that cares about the match and is indifferent to what comes afterward in evening and late-night shows. If necessary, they will settle for a clip that led the presenter to a commercial break due to the guests' shouting, not to laugh but out of mere curiosity.
Before you fulfill the desires of this club or that club by piling up their affiliates in the programs, you need to focus on content that restores trust between you and the viewers.
Quota allocation is an old method and is no longer acceptable in the era of new media and new viewers. The issue of playing on the strings of (50%) Al-Hilal, (30%) Al-Nasr, (15%) Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad, and (5%) others needs to be reconsidered, if there is any consideration. In this repeated approach, there are messages that provoke the simple viewer and distance the current generation from following along, as their thoughts are too elevated to be served repeated meals every night that they abandoned long ago, settling instead for the dialogue of the field.
Our sports need someone who keeps up with them with a new vision and new ideas, instead of cutting from them by presenting a narrative where Asia is bigger than the elite or recycling a record we are tired of. Free yourselves from the guardianship of clubs and the pressure of fanatic fans, and present the beautiful face of a league that is the talk of the world and a national sport that today represents an important part of a young, inspiring vision that turns the impossible into reality.
Sports media is different from all types of media; it was born in the stands and shaped by noise and encouragement, not by sobriety and neutrality. Its audience is a partner, not a recipient, and its contradictions are not a flaw but the secret of its presence. Those who demand it to be like political or cultural media will regret it if their demand is met. Its success lies in being a mirror of the stands, tense, passionate, loud, sometimes honest, often crazy, but alive.
This is how Dawood Al-Sharyan tweeted, and in his tweet are codes that only my colleague Adnan Jastaniah will be able to solve, and I hope "Abu Fares" will respond, even with a thought.
