When the consumer stands in front of a product in the store, the first thing that comes to mind is that it would not be displayed on the shelf unless it has passed the standards of specifications, measurements, and safety. People here have an automatic trust in the state and its agencies!
In reality, it is a natural trust; otherwise, what is the point of having multiple government agencies responsible for preventing the entry and sale of goods? Thus, the responsibility on these agencies is immense in preventing the presence of counterfeit, imitation, and poor-quality goods in our markets!
When a statement is issued warning against a product or calling for its withdrawal from the markets, more than one question arises about why it was in the markets in the first place. It is true that oversight cannot examine every product in the markets and relies on random samples, but how do some traders and suppliers have the audacity to cheat and deceive in circumventing oversight procedures and clearance in matters related to the health and safety of consumers?!
Relying on the conscience of manufacturers and suppliers is not enough in a world filled with wolves of exploitation, profit-making, and greed. Therefore, the reliance on consumer awareness and the strictness of regulatory procedures becomes more necessary. When you stand in front of the shelf in the store next time, do not assume that the displayed product is completely safe; you must have a degree of doubt that makes you more cautious and committed to distinguishing between products and their sources of manufacturing and importing in search of safe quality!
Choosing the right store is no less important than choosing a reliable product. Often, the conditions of storage and transportation have a significant impact on the product's quality or safety. I might recall the famous incident of seizing spoiled bottled drinking water, which turned out to be spoiled because it was displayed outside the store at a gas station on a travel route, exposing it to sunlight and heat. Unfortunately, many grocery stores do this, so the problem was not with the manufacturer or the means of transportation!
In short, consumer awareness and caution are their primary safety net before their rights become scattered among trade, traders, customs, and specifications and measurements!
