The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia faces security and military threats from the terrorist Houthi group, which have included targeting civilian and economic facilities, as well as threatening the safety and stability of citizens and residents. In light of these challenges, the scene is not limited to military and security aspects, but extends to the cultural and social dimension that reveals the nature of Saudi society, its cohesion, and its ability to deal with crises with high awareness and responsibility.
In this context, various manifestations of awareness and solidarity have emerged in Saudi society, starting from within the family, as the primary nucleus for social upbringing, and extending to all components of society. This was also evident in the interaction through social media, the commitment to official instructions, and the avoidance of circulating images and information related to threats and targeted sites, reflecting an understanding of the importance of individual responsibility in protecting collective security. Here, the role of cultural psychology stands out in explaining the relationship between values, attitudes, and behaviors; as the values of belonging, responsibility, trust, and solidarity contribute to shaping the community's responses to crises and enhancing its ability to adapt to them.
It should be noted that the feeling of security and reassurance is linked to the effectiveness of institutions, emergency preparedness, and the efficiency of security plans. Therefore, cultural awareness does not merely represent a complementary aspect of security, but is considered one of its important elements, especially when coupled with verifying information, adhering to official directives, and avoiding rumors.
From a historical perspective, the Arabian Peninsula and Yemen have witnessed competition among regional powers for political influence and trade routes. In the sixth century AD, there was Ethiopian-Roman control, followed by the control of the Sassanian Persian state in the latter half of the same century, within a context of political and commercial competition linked to Yemen's strategic location. This historical experience allows for an understanding of the importance of the geographical location of the Arabian Peninsula and trade routes in the Red Sea, and the continued connection of its security to the interests of regional and international powers, while emphasizing the need to distinguish between the contexts of the past and present and the differences in their circumstances.
Overall, the cultural and social scene in Saudi Arabia reveals the importance of national awareness as a foundation for community cohesion and supporting state institutions in facing challenges. An aware society not only maintains its cohesion but also contributes to protecting its security through responsible behavior, media awareness, and institutional trust. National identity, with its values of belonging, solidarity, and responsibility, remains a fundamental element in enhancing the community's ability to overcome crises.
From this standpoint, the strength of the community is not measured solely by its ability to face threats, but by the cohesion of its individuals, their awareness of their responsibilities, and their ability to transform shared values into practices that enhance the security of the homeland and preserve its stability and achievements.
