Today, I stand at the forefront of the exhibition grounds in the capital, Riyadh, carrying years of experience in the exhibition and conference sector, and proudly witnessing the transformation of this industry into a developmental engine whose impact extends from event halls to cities and communities. With the Kingdom's Vision 2030, exhibitions have become part of the national development system, contributing to reshaping the economic activity map and opening new spaces for growth and investment in Saudi cities, granting each city the opportunity to create its competitive advantage according to its capabilities and resources. In my practical experience, I have noticed the concentration of the exhibition and conference capacity in Riyadh, Mecca, and the Eastern Province, which is a natural extension of the advanced infrastructure, airports, hotel capacity, and economic centers that these cities enjoy. The events sector has witnessed accelerated growth, driven by national ambition to expand the exhibition and conference industry and enhance the Kingdom's presence on the global events map. I see this growth as a broad opportunity for the events economy to transition to other cities, achieving a more balanced distribution of opportunities and enhancing economic activity in various regions of the Kingdom. Each city possesses elements that grant it a unique presence on the events map; Medina relies on its religious significance and visitor movement, Al-Ula offers a global experience that combines culture, heritage, and tourism, Asir invests in its mountainous nature for tourism and sustainability conferences, while Najran has a rich cultural heritage and a location that qualifies it for an important role in regional trade. From this diversity, a comprehensive national network can be built where cities complement each other, opportunities multiply, and the economic impact expands. Jazan holds a special place in my vision, due to the "Jaidana Waterfront" project and its inclusion of a multi-purpose conference center, which is an important step in linking the exhibition industry with urban development. The project combines the waterfront, hospitality, retail, and public spaces into one system, creating an economic cycle that starts with investment in infrastructure, then attracts events, visitors, and investors, leading to the activation of trade and services and increasing asset value in the project's vicinity. Here, the conference center becomes a starting point for urban and economic growth whose impact extends to the community and the city for many years to come.
From my practical position, I realize that the exhibition economy produces a gradual impact that begins with spending on organization and operation, extending to hotels, transportation, restaurants, and retail, then reaching investment attraction, local talent localization, and enhancing the city's image. As events move to new cities, this economic cycle moves with them, becoming part of the city's economy and the lives of its residents.
This system is completed when infrastructure is accompanied by smart operations, national competencies, and integration with local economic sectors. Artificial intelligence technologies provide wide opportunities to enhance efficiency, improve visitor experience, manage flows, and accurately measure economic impact. Investing in the nation's youth remains the foundation of this transformation because when knowledge turns into local skill and experience, it becomes a sustainable economic force, creating a renewed ability to host and manage events at a global level.
From the exhibition grounds in Riyadh, I aspire to develop a Saudi model in operations and innovation, exchange experiences with other cities, and build a smart system that makes every event an opportunity to add real value to the city's economy and community. I envision the future in a national network connecting Riyadh with Jazan, Al-Ula, Asir, Medina, and Najran, so that capabilities integrate, opportunities are distributed, and the Kingdom expands in hosting global events.
In my vision, exhibitions are bridges that connect knowledge with the economy, investment with cities, and opportunities with communities. When willpower meets vision, our cities can shape their future with the hands of their children, making this great nation more present and influential on the global economic map. May God protect our homeland and sustain its honor and elevation.
