Your effort to exercise self-control in managing your emotions with a mark of balance, and to regulate them on a scale that frees them from excessive agitation, is commendable. However, there are moments, words, and expressions that stop you in a "state of goosebumps"; to use the expression of Al-Nafri in his book "The Positions and Addresses"...
This was my feeling as I followed the speech of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman at the opening sessions of the 25th World Petroleum Conference in Riyadh last week; where this speech intertwined many signals, messages, and prophecies, with a style that was adorned with pride, elevated in dignity, and rich in lofty meanings, as required by the moment and dictated by the current circumstances facing the Kingdom and the region as a whole. This necessitated a prominent language of challenge, filled with a spirit of confrontation whenever necessary, without hollow claims or uncontrolled emotional outbursts, but rather a strong expression that balances with the tangible evidence on the ground... What pride one feels when hearing the voice of Prince Abdulaziz resonating with honor, echoing with the glorious assertion that "the word fear does not exist in the Saudi dictionary," and "as Saudis, we are not afraid, we are determined, and we will prove that to the whole world, and we will overcome everything we face." By God, this is indeed a "state of goosebumps" for anyone who possesses a vigilant heart and a spirit that senses the greatness of this nation, understands the nobility of its leadership, and comprehends the scale of the conspiracies aimed at its security and capabilities, but alas!
It is essential that this important message reaches all attendees of the conference, regardless of their high status, and that its echo transcends to all corners of the globe for those concerned. For it is not just a casually spoken word, but rather a concise and impactful verbal extraction for those who overreach and cross their limits, a message of reassurance for those who fear for the Kingdom and its security and infrastructure, especially in the energy sector, from this blind targeting and foolish behavior. The speech was filled with elements that solidify the foundations of reassurance, establishing pride and glory in what is now a reality that "Riyadh has become the capital of energy security," not standing helplessly in the face of any incident or targeting, but rather swiftly moving towards an immediate solution to provide alternatives that ensure the continued flow of energy arteries throughout the world, with the conviction that "there can be no future for energy for all without energy security for all," and that "energy security must go hand in hand with the transformations taking place in the sector globally." This is precisely what the Kingdom has recognized under the wise leadership, understanding that "the threats facing the energy infrastructure and global supply chains highlight the importance of preparedness and long-term investments." We heard this in His Highness's remarks before the attendees of the global conference, emphasizing that the Kingdom will continue its investments in the energy sector, fulfilling its commitments and achieving the targets of Vision 2030, no matter the challenges and global circumstances. He then referred to the living evidence of the Kingdom's appreciation for the nature of potential dangers before they occur and preparing alternatives, which - I swear - can only stem from good planning, foresight, and the proper allocation of resources. This was mentioned by His Highness when he referred to the Kingdom's investment in its infrastructure for decades without knowing the nature of the risks it might face in the future, exemplified by the East-West oil pipeline, which represented an alternative route to ensure the delivery of supplies in the event of maritime transport risks. This route is continuously evolving, aiming to reach (10) million barrels soon. Also, look at Aramco's ability to handle challenges and restore damaged facilities in a short time, reflecting the accumulation of experience and the Kingdom's capability in planning and maintenance. Therefore, His Highness's praise was filled with pride for Saudi talents, a pride that fills the space between the heavens with their glory, in the context of his statement etched in the annals of time: "The strategic strength of the Kingdom is not limited to its natural resources but includes knowledge, efficiency, determination, the ability to reform, replace, and restart, and the continuity of energy supplies in the most challenging conditions."
It is difficult for one to arrive at a comprehensive and eloquent description of the rich meanings packed in Prince Abdulaziz's speech at that global gathering. It can be said that it was a speech that proved Riyadh to be the main hub and a reliable center for ensuring the stability of oil markets and a trustworthy source of global supplies, given its extended legacy and decades-long investments in infrastructure and alternative export routes. The speech also presented a balanced proposition regarding the Kingdom's strategy to meet the current global energy needs, the innovation and rapid expansion in clean energy, transformative technologies, carbon management, the integration of electricity networks, as well as enhancing storage and gas networks and infrastructure, developing new technologies, reducing emissions, building local industries and supply chains, and investing in national talents, in addition to new investments to increase the gas pipeline capacity to 3 million barrels.
All these monumental achievements, and the visible evidence on the ground, and what the Kingdom has clearly demonstrated in this delicate moment of capabilities to overcome both declared and hidden targeting, qualifies Riyadh to be the "capital of energy security." The global meeting seeking "pathways to a future of energy for all" is the best evidence of that. The reality presented at this conference spoke for itself, and the messages reached those they concerned, and the Kingdom ascended to the lofty heights it deserves in this fruitful conference. If you have not reached the state of standing in the position of "goosebumps" in all that has been said, then by God, you have no excuse, nor refuge, with Prince Abdulaziz's resonant declaration: "We are the ones who determine our future, and we will not let it slip from our hands." Here, indeed, goosebumps arise, and pride reaches its pinnacle.
