This message is a pure love for Al Ahly Club, and it is from me to you, players of the most beautiful, important, and precious team:
Do not wait for the road to be paved, nor for the match to give you what you want, nor for the circumstances to ever stand in favor of those seeking a championship.. Go to South Africa and take it.
This is simply the story you must carry as Al Ahly players when you stand before Sundowns. The trophies that remain long in memory are not those that came in easy days; they are those that were snatched when everything said the task was tough.
And today, Al Ahly does not need anyone to enumerate the difficulties of the task. They know it well. They play away from home, against an opponent who knows their field and its details, and among fans who will support their team from the very first moment. All of this is true, but it should not be the most important truth in the match, because the more important truth is that in front of Al Ahly is a cup. And when the cup is in front of you, all the excuses that can be made afterward hold no value.
Therefore, Al Ahly must enter the match with the character of a team that has come to take something it wants, not a team that waits to see what its opponent will do.. And here begins the spirit.
The spirit is not shouting in the locker room, nor is it an emotional rush that ends after a quarter of an hour. The true spirit is to refuse to lose in the small details; it means not giving up a shared ball, not leaving your teammate alone, not stopping after a mistake, and not looking at the clock for the end when fatigue intensifies.
The spirit is to believe that the match is yours even when it is not going as you want.
There will come a time when Sundowns will apply pressure, and a time when Al Ahly will need patience, and perhaps there will be moments when a player feels that his body is asking him to stop. It is precisely at that moment that the difference begins between a team that wants to win and a team that wants the championship.
And because the championship demands more, you must know that it requires you to run an extra step when you have no desire to run, to return and cover for your teammate, to put your foot in a ball you know is painful, and to stay mentally present when fatigue becomes heavier than the decision.
These things do not often appear in match summaries, but they are what place trophies in cabinets.
And Al Ahly has enough talent to hurt Sundowns, but talent on a night like this needs men to guard it with determination. Because the most beautiful pass is not enough if the desire to regain the ball is absent, and the most skillful player does not create a championship alone if everyone does not feel that they are fighting for the same fate.
There is a moment in every big match when the talk about tactics, names, and expectations stops, and the matter becomes between two teams, where which one will refuse to break first?
Al Ahly must make the answer clear.
To be more patient than their opponent, to maintain their composure when the heat of the match rises, to know that the last minute is no less valuable than the first, and that a complete championship may hide in a (single sprint), or a tackle, or a block, or a ball that a player refuses to consider lost.
The Al Ahly fans will not be inside the stadium in their numbers, but they can be present in the conscience of every player wearing green. Every time one of them gets tired, he must remember how many people are waiting for this moment.
And every time the match tightens, he must remember that history does not keep a list of the circumstances faced by the champion, because history only keeps the name of the champion.
So do not return from (Pretoria) with a story about the difficulty of the match.
Return with an important story that announces how you overcame its difficulties.
And do not talk to us after the match about the ground, or travel, or pressure, or crowds.
Talk to us about a ball you refused to lose, about a meter you ran beyond your capacity, about a teammate you carried when he was tired, and about ninety minutes in which you decided that the cup would not stay there.
It is a match that can encapsulate the entire meaning of Al Ahly, when circumstances bring what they want, and Al Ahly brings what is stronger than them.
Go for the cup as one who knows that great opportunities are not given twice. Fight for it, then bring it back to Jeddah!
