History records, in all the situations and challenges facing our Arab region, the depth of the fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and their pivotal role in enhancing regional and international security and stability, embodying the shared vision of a common destiny between the two brotherly countries, and what they represent as the cornerstone of Arab weight and the balance that regulates the course of events in the Middle East, steering it towards safety regardless of how intense it becomes, how many parties are involved, or how widespread it is.
What distinguishes the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Egypt is the awareness of the leaderships in both countries regarding the magnitude of the threats facing the region, and their ability to confront projects of infiltration, hegemony, and interference in Arab affairs, dealing with them wisely, calmly, and rationally, away from attempts at chaos and division. This relationship is also characterized by popular awareness to confront the danger of malicious and suspicious campaigns, through the ability of Saudis and Egyptians together to move from merely recognizing this danger to understanding its magnitude, source, and impact, which has made the two brotherly peoples engaged in a mission of support and backing for their leaderships, standing firm against those threats.
Therefore, the visit of the Crown Prince to Cairo came to reflect an important aspect of this solid relationship between the two countries, both government and people, and its significance at a time of extreme sensitivity and complexity that the Middle East, the Palestinian issue, and unprecedented conditions are experiencing on multiple battlefronts simultaneously and rapidly in various places in the region, the most dangerous of which are the American-Iranian war, the war in Yemen and Sudan, the Libyan crisis, and the repeated Israeli assaults in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria, in addition to the threats to navigation and international trade freedom in the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea, and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, extending to the Suez Canal, and their negative impact on global supply chains.
These issues are very heavy and require complete coordination in positions, orientations, and future visions, accompanied by balanced movements in decision-making, and measured in its implementation and alignment with the countries of the region, pushing for peace efforts, prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, and halting military escalation that threatens the stability of the region as a whole.
From this standpoint, the discussions between the Crown Prince and the Egyptian President did not merely involve exchanging common messages regarding bilateral topics, but also included a discussion of the reality of an entire region, and the importance of coordination between the two sides before taking action, and alignment before making decisions, which makes the chances of its application and achieving its goals possible and impactful in the face of these ongoing challenges. This explains the steps taken by Riyadh and Cairo towards de-escalation, rearranging priorities, and charting directions towards more stability; considering that the security of the region is indivisible and excludes no one.
The Crown Prince's visit to Egypt will reorganize the course of Arab action towards current events, dealing with them with a collective vision and responsibility, away from the self-interests pursued by some countries, or the functional roles they play for limited and temporary gains, which makes the Saudi and Egyptian movement decisive at this time, not allowing for delays, hesitation, or bargaining with other issues in the region; considering that the stage is sensitive and the cards are exposed to attempts to impose a new will on the countries of the region and their peoples.
In all the details of Arab action towards the events and issues facing the region, Saudi Arabia and Egypt remain capable powers—both humanly and militarily—of bearing the consequences, absorbing the effects, and transitioning towards a future where the region is more secure and stable.
