The political software struggle between the Kingdom and Iran is the first thing that comes to mind with Riyadh hosting tech giants today at the "LEAP 2026" exhibition.
Through this software struggle, a larger picture emerges that transcends the traditional conflict over regional influence or the old sectarian divide. It is now a picture of managing two countries that operate on completely contradictory operating systems; one is designed to create connection and prosperity, focusing on efficiency. It is fast in processing its data and open to global applications. Programming directed towards the future. Its "code" for economic and social vision aims to eliminate errors. The goal is to achieve stability and prosperity for users. The other operates on an old and closed operating system. Its core "code" is programmed on ideology, crisis exportation, and militia feeding. This system rejects external updates and considers any connection to the global network a threat. It is designed to sow isolation and chaos.
Modern Saudi programming represents an advanced operating system based on construction and openness, linking to the global system. The Kingdom's vision, while appearing as an economic plan, is based on a comprehensive update of work and life systems. Its idea is fundamental in its simplicity; transforming oil wealth into sustainable assets, attracting technology and artificial intelligence giants, creating hundreds of thousands of job opportunities for youth, and turning the region into a service hub connecting the three continents. This program does not see its neighbors as enemies to be penetrated, but rather as potential partners in a wide commercial and economic network, with stability and mutual prosperity as its foundation, as they are the only guarantee for protecting massive investments.
In contrast, Iran operates through software of a completely different nature. Designed for penetration, dismantling, and disruption. The regime has spent forty-seven years of its existence without developing an economic or technological model that can be exported to the world. It has focused on developing "viruses" represented in sectarian militias and armed networks in the Arab world. This Iranian programming works most efficiently when countries are weak or torn apart; it feeds on the political vacuum in Baghdad, Beirut, and Sana'a, as it previously fed in Damascus. When the program penetrates a country, it brings with it ballistic missiles and drones, not modern universities or technical laboratories. The final result is the separation of those countries from the global financial system and the isolation of their peoples in a dark economic abyss.
For five decades, the Kingdom has faced this regional virus with an "effective containment" strategy. Riyadh has not been unable to respond in kind, but its leaders recognized early on that entering into a destructive offensive software war would disrupt its own developmental system. Several incidents have occurred in the Kingdom, with one culprit. One of them was the aggression against Aramco facilities in 2019, which Riyadh did not fall into to serve its chaotic adversary's agenda, and it proceeded on two paths; diplomatic isolation of the Iranian threat and continuing to build the infrastructure for the new economy. This is the idea of Saudi programming; the response to attempts at disruption is to accelerate growth and construction rates. Even when China sponsored the Saudi-Iranian agreement, it was a new Saudi attempt to impose a protection protocol, linking Tehran's stability to real economic interests, and testing the Iranian regime's ability to modify its "codes" from revolution to state.
The clear scene, subjected to dozens of tests, confirms that the winner in the region is not the one who possesses a larger arsenal of old missiles or who can threaten international shipping lanes. The winner is the one who has the strongest economy, the best education, and the ability to integrate its youth into the global digital economy. This is the Kingdom's choice to invest in the future for the service of its people and the region, and not to be preoccupied with past conflicts. Developing software to keep pace with the times. Meanwhile, Iran has chosen to remain a hostage to old programming that inevitably leads to the blue screen of death.
