Some reach a state of nihilism through depression, and many people have been destroyed over extended years, clinging to that vile feeling (depression). No matter how brilliant or youthful the mind may be, depression gnaws at its vigor. There are numerous cases that have reached the brink of suicide, or strokes, or to a fatal cause that ends the life of that depressed individual.
I had read the book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by the philosopher Nietzsche, that inspiring book in its language and idea, aligning with the concept of the book as a narrative case filled with stories, and Nietzsche's thoughts and philosophy through the narrative of Zarathustra, the wise one descending from the mountain, leaving his sanctuary where he had spent many years contemplating life and the people and lives within it. He encounters the priest he saw on his ascent to the mountain, remembers him, and a dialogue ensues between them: "Every sentence serves as a resurrection of a philosophical state deepened throughout the rest of the narrative." In that dialogue, Zarathustra reveals the reason for his departure from his sanctuary to tell people about the Übermensch, and he continues his return to meet the people. He happens upon a grand celebration held for a jester who traverses a thin rope stretched between two high peaks. The jester walks across that rope, balancing with a wooden beam to cross the ends of the rope, and while the people await the jester, Zarathustra begins to scatter his wisdom and philosophical vision for finding the higher and ideal human. He presents his philosophy (the camel - the lion - the child) to the gathering of people, and in each case, he imparts wisdom and visions that realize the existence of the ideal human. All his words were thought by the people to be part of the celebration and an introduction to the jester's appearance, who, when he began to walk on the rope, fell dead at Zarathustra's feet. The people disperse from the place, leading to a deep dialogue between the corpse and Zarathustra. With hunger, the living move to fill their stomachs through a flower that appears, and there a profound philosophical dialogue unfolds, ending in the tragedy of a living person carrying a dead one, wandering through the regions, culminating in burying him in the trunk of a tree.
This book is considered one of Nietzsche's most important works, in which he articulates his philosophy about the Übermensch. This great philosopher lived through misfortunes and illnesses that led him to a mental hospital. He kept moving between hospitals carrying his melancholy, the blindness of his eyes, and his separation from people, suffering from recurrent strokes. His cause of death was diagnosed as chronic depression.
I did not delve into the essence of Nietzsche's philosophy, but rather touched upon a part of the narrative of the book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra," as it is a philosophy that requires careful reading, especially for those who possess a share of knowledge.
I wanted to demonstrate that depression is an illness that requires treatment in hospitals as well as support from friends surrounding the patient.
Finally... we are all mentally ill and in need of friends before we reach a state of chronic depression.
