It is said that Thomas Hobson (1544–1631), a horse stable owner in Cambridge, England, imposed on his customers the obligation to rent the horse closest to the stable door, without allowing them to choose the horses they preferred. Thus, they had no choice but to accept what was offered or refrain from renting altogether. Hence, the term "Hobson's choice" became popular, meaning an apparent freedom, but in essence, it does not go beyond a single offer: either acceptance or rejection.
Upon reflecting on the Palestinian issue, it becomes clear that Israel and America offer nothing but Hobson's choice itself. They see no options for Palestinians and peace-loving people around the world other than two: acceptance of Israel as a tyrant that kills, destroys, seizes lands, and violates international laws and norms without accountability, or death for the Palestinians and their supporters.
This Zionist entity has not ceased to commit genocide against the Palestinian people since the declaration of its state until today, without deterrence or punishment.
History has recorded dark pages with its massacres in Deir Yassin, Tantura, Kafr Qasim, Khan Younis, Tal al-Zaatar, Sabra and Shatila, and Jenin. This culminated in its war on Gaza, which resulted in over 62,000 martyrs, around 157,000 injured, in addition to more than 10,000 missing persons believed to be under the rubble over the course of two years. Statistics indicate that five out of every six Palestinian casualties in Gaza were civilians. About 90% of Gaza's population was forcibly displaced. Ninety percent of homes were destroyed, along with the demolition of all twelve universities in Gaza, the destruction of 80% of its schools and mosques, and a large number of churches, museums, and libraries, with no hospital operating at full capacity.
Israel's allies among the great powers do not hesitate to support this unjust approach and seek to entrench it. The amount of aid provided by the U.S. government to Israel to support its military operations since October 7, 2023, has exceeded $33 billion. Its political support is very clear in the blatant bias towards Israel, protecting its interests, and justifying its occupation and aggression.
The international community, in all its spectra, has risen against the inhumane Israeli practices towards the Palestinians, which was recently manifested in:
- A popular and governmental international demand to stop Israeli violations and to prosecute the criminals committing genocide against the Palestinians, led by Netanyahu.
- The convening of a high-level conference on September 22, 2025, at the United Nations headquarters, under Saudi and French sponsorship and with the participation of leaders of states and governments, aimed at establishing a peaceful settlement for the Palestinian issue. The "New York Declaration" was adopted, and its statement reaffirmed the steadfast international commitment to the two-state solution, which charts an irreversible path to building a better future for Palestinians, Israelis, and all the peoples of the region. The efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard received significant global appreciation, even from within Israel itself, where 9,000 Israelis signed a petition calling for the recognition of the Palestinian state as the only way to peace.
In response to these international pressures and in an effort to create political and media noise aimed at distracting public attention, and to shift the global political discourse from condemnation and calls to stop aggression and occupation, to exploring alternatives and options, and forgetting the crimes committed by Israel:
1- On September 29, 2025, Trump announced a roadmap for peace in Gaza, which includes 20 points lacking details, maps, and specific timelines. The plan acknowledges in point 19 the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state, describing it as "the aspiration of the Palestinian people." However, it does not stipulate that the United States will recognize this state. It also calls for a transitional government to manage Gaza, describing in point 9 two levels of temporary governance: a comprehensive international body and a non-political Palestinian technocratic committee. The international body will be called the "Peace Council," chaired by Trump with members and heads of other states to be announced, including Tony Blair (who has notes against him for his actions during his administration in Britain). This will return the world to the era of colonialism, imposing foreign rule over Arab land.
2- Following that, the "Trump Declaration for Lasting Peace and Prosperity" was issued on October 13, 2025, which emphasized:
- That lasting peace enables both Palestinians and Israelis to achieve prosperity while protecting their basic human rights, ensuring their security, and preserving their dignity.
- The dismantling of extremism and militancy in all its forms.
- The pursuit of tolerance, dignity, and equal opportunities for every person, ensuring that the Middle East is a place where everyone can pursue their aspirations in peace, security, and economic prosperity, regardless of race or belief.
- Welcoming the progress made in establishing comprehensive and lasting peace arrangements in the Gaza Strip, and the friendly and fruitful relationship between Israel and its regional neighbors.
The declaration did not include recognition of the Palestinians' right to a secure independent state, nor did it call for an end to the Israeli occupation of Arab lands, which represent the foundations of peace in the region. Instead, it went beyond this and insisted on expanding the framework of normalization agreements between Israel and neighboring countries within what is called the "Abraham Accords," without a clear commitment from Israel to accept a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace with neighboring countries in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Based on the principles of truth, humanity, and justice, and emphasizing the necessity for the international community to strive for comprehensive security based on respect for international law: all peace lovers around the world must insist on the need to achieve just peace based on the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The land of Palestine, since it was stolen from its rightful owners, has been bleeding in pain and crying out for help: Where is justice and where is humanity? All that is heard is the moaning of the victims of massacres, and all that is seen are the Palestinian dead, the ashes of fires, and the rubble of demolished homes, as a result of the crimes of an occupying Zionist entity that established its existence on the ruins of Palestinian villages and the skulls of innocent children.
Conclusion: From the words of the poet Dasman bin Manahi Al-Subaie:
Your sleep is above the bundles of honor for an hour
And there is no humiliation on the gentle tents
And people do not wish you to turn away from them
They gave you their faces or the waves
When I saw the mustaches, how are you?
Do not expect good from those mustaches
And as long as you see the rat around you
Expect your downfall, O dam of Marib.
