منذ أعوام، أحاول مع أُسرتي تبنّي سياسة اقتصادية، متناغمة مع التحوّلات؛ لمجابهة التحديات الاستهلاكية، ما يمكن معه حماية الوضع المالي من مخاطر غير مأخوذة في الحُسبان، فالمبالغة في التفخيم والاقتناء من الكماليات يوقع في الحرج، وتلافي ذلك يحتاج إلى جراحات تجميلية مكلفة، والشفافية تقتضي أن أكون صريحاً مع منظومتي العائلية، ولا أُسرف في إشعارهم بأن الوضع دوماً على ما يرام.
وعندما يقول ابني وبنتي، لدينا مصروف كافٍ ليوم أو أسبوع أو شهر، لتفادي زعلي، فمن الطبيعي أن أفرح أو أشعر بشيء من السعادة، كونهما يطبّقان ثقافة الترشيد، ويوفّران لخزينتي مبلغاً يمكن أن يسد عجز الميزانية المقترحة، للشهر أو السنة، أو الفصل، ومن الأنصف أن أُجدّد بهم الثقة، وأرفع سقف طموحي مع عائلتي المُرشّدة، في ظلّ وفرة أبناء وبنات إيجابيين، لربما بحكم ظروف المراحل يُبالغون في رسائلهم التطمينية.
ومن لوازم ملكيّة أي فرد للمال، واستغنائه عن مصروف يحصل عليه، سؤاله؛ عن المصدر، فهل هناك توفير غير مُعلن؟، أو دعم من أطراف متعاطفة مع هذا وتلك؟ ولعل ما يخشاه الأب الكادح أن يدعي أولاده أن لديهم ما يكفيهم، ثم يكتشف أنهم يهايطون ولا أقول؛ يكذبون، فالمصارحة بين أهل البيت أسلم للجميع، المُنتج والمُستهلك، ولعلّ مما يُبهج الأب أن تطلب منه أسرته ما تحتاج من الضرورات، ويشعر بامتنان فذلك من لوازم القِوامة، شرط ألا تكون طلبات مرهقة.
بالطبع ممكن أن يمرر الأب، على أسرته، ادعاءات وأنباء لا تمتّ إلى الواقع بأيّ صِلة، ويشعرهم أنه حقق مستهدفاته السنوية وأزيد، وإن لم يظهر شيء أمام أعين الناظرين، بدافع تطمينهم، والحفاظ على موقعه القيادي، وإيلائه ثقةً، ولتجاوز الاتهامات، وردود الأفعال التي يمكن أن تتسبّب في ربكة ميزانية، أو تعثّر مشروع، أو تعطيل غاية تنموية مستدامة، أو سحب الصلاحيات الممنوحة من مجلس إدارة المنزل.
قال لي قيادي في إحدى الإدارات؛ تعرف لماذا تفوز مدن أو مناطق بدعم سنوي ربما يفوق احتياجات مؤسساتها؟ فقلتُ، ربما حظوة! أو كرامة، أو جدارة، فقال، كلا، بل لأنهم يصفّرون المستهدفات، وإن حققوا منها ما يفوق المتوقع؛ إلا أنهم لا يكشفون أوراقهم، فيحظون بالدعم مُضاعفاً، في حين تدّعي مؤسسات، في مناطق أنها حقّقت المستهدفات ويرفعون بالمؤشرات الإيجابية، التي تدل على الاكتفاء أو التشبع برغم الحاجة الماسة للدعم، وهذا يتنافى مع واجبات العمل، ويُخلّ بجودة الأداء.
لا أتخيّل مسؤولاً يغضب من إدارة تابعة لإدارته أو وزارته؛ لأنها طلبت منه دعماً، أو اعتماد مشاريع، فالإدارات المميّزة تحقّق فائضاً من الإنجازات، بالاعتماد على مصادر ذاتية، ولوجستية، وكلّما طالب مسؤول بمشاريع وتحقّقت سيكتبها له التاريخ، ويذكره المجتمع بخير.

For years, I have been trying, along with my family, to adopt an economic policy that aligns with the transformations to face consumer challenges, which can protect our financial situation from unforeseen risks. Overindulgence in luxury items can lead to embarrassment, and avoiding that requires costly cosmetic surgeries. Transparency necessitates that I be honest with my family system and not overindulge in making them feel that everything is always fine.
When my son and daughter say, "We have enough money for a day, a week, or a month," to avoid upsetting me, it is natural for me to feel happy or somewhat joyful, as they are applying the culture of rationalization and saving an amount for my budget that can cover the proposed budget deficit for the month, year, or quarter. It is only fair that I renew my trust in them and raise my aspirations with my guided family, especially in light of the abundance of positive sons and daughters, who perhaps, due to the circumstances of the stages, exaggerate their reassuring messages.
One of the essentials of any individual's ownership of money and their independence from the expenses they receive is to question the source. Is there any undisclosed saving? Or support from sympathetic parties? What a hardworking father fears is that his children claim they have enough, only to discover they are exaggerating, and I won't say they are lying. Transparency among family members is safer for everyone, both the producer and the consumer. Perhaps what delights a father is when his family asks him for what they need in essentials, and he feels gratitude, as that is part of the responsibility, provided that the requests are not burdensome.
Of course, a father can pass on to his family claims and news that have no relation to reality, making them feel that he has achieved his annual targets and more, even if nothing appears before the eyes of the observers, driven by the desire to reassure them, maintain his leadership position, and earn their trust, as well as to avoid accusations and reactions that could cause budget confusion, project setbacks, or hinder sustainable developmental goals, or withdraw the powers granted by the household board.
A leader in one of the departments said to me, "Do you know why some cities or regions receive annual support that may exceed the needs of their institutions?" I replied, "Perhaps it's favoritism! Or dignity, or merit." He said, "No, it’s because they set their targets low, and even if they achieve more than expected, they do not reveal their cards, thus receiving multiplied support. Meanwhile, institutions in other regions claim they have met their targets and raise positive indicators that suggest sufficiency or saturation despite the urgent need for support, which contradicts work obligations and undermines performance quality."
I cannot imagine a responsible person getting angry with a department under their management or ministry for requesting support or project approvals. Distinguished departments achieve a surplus of accomplishments by relying on self-sufficient and logistical resources. The more a responsible person requests projects and achieves them, the more history will record them, and the community will remember them positively.
