Without a doubt, the Saudi-Pakistani military agreement will rearrange the logic of "power and deterrence" in the Middle East, which has been violated for decades due to miscalculations of powers, their recklessness, or their military arrogance, which believed they were more capable of imposing the wishes of hegemony before the logic of reason and politics.
It will also build a balance of power that the region has lost for three years, following the events of October 7, a moment that turned the region into rampant chaos that no one has been able to control or limit its fires to this day.
A brief overview of some of what is happening in the region will give us a glimpse of the illogical thinking that is being circulated and promoted intensively in an attempt to impose hegemony or security extortion, due to the turmoil and chaos, which in reality is either a recycling of old Eastern weapons or an invocation of the legacy of a bygone civilization whose tools have no impact in the era of diversified economies, precision technology, artificial intelligence, and military craftsmanship.
It has been very logical for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to establish a military alliance with Pakistan, as the Kingdom has always presented itself as a haven for the Islamic world, since the first Islamic summit held in Mecca called by King Abdulaziz in 1926, through King Faisal's tours in Islamic capitals in support of the Palestinian cause and his adoption of a balanced Islamic discourse that continued with all subsequent Saudi kings.
It is worth noting a very important moment that predicted the collapse of the international security system and the necessity of focusing on an Islamic military alliance when Riyadh established an Islamic military alliance in 2015, announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, aimed at unifying the efforts of Islamic countries in combating terrorism, with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan at the heart of that alliance.
This was a clear indication that the Islamic option, including "civilizational, cultural, security, and military," has not retreated; rather, it is the broader space to which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia belongs, as it is the protector of the Two Holy Mosques and the custodian of the Arab and Islamic heritage, as well as the primary supporter of all issues concerning the Islamic world, hosting the most prominent Islamic organizations on its territory (Islamic Development Bank, Muslim World League, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, etc.).
Riyadh is very aware of the significant dangers that are being plotted against the region and Saudi Arabia itself, as the ambitions of major powers are very clear, and the attempts of economically failing states are rampant, while the proponents of obsolete civilizational tendencies surround the region from all sides. Moreover, the transnational organizations that act as subcontractors for hostile states continue to target the Kingdom as they have for decades, starting from the bombings of the 1960s, through the bombings by Al-Qaeda and ISIS during the 1990s and the early 2000s, in addition to the attempted attacks carried out by neighboring states.
The Saudi-Pakistani announcement of establishing a military alliance came at a sensitive time and amidst high volatility in the region, without any logic of war and peace. Over the past three years, we have seen how stability collapsed due to a single operation, turning the entire region into a major battlefield, and this military and security chaos is expected to continue for years to come.
The world today pays the price for the mistakes of some organizations and movements, relying on them to shape the contours of power and extortion. However, the logic of politics states that these organizations always slip from the hands of their operators, and they cannot control their rhythm as required, thus bringing disasters and crises back to their operators, who pay a heavy price.
The logic of deterrence that emerged following the signing of the Saudi-Pakistani military alliance indicates that Pakistan has now become part of the Arab region and a Middle Eastern state, whereas it previously belonged only to "West Asia." Additionally, Riyadh now overlooks the Indian Ocean with a broad horizon, which significantly alters the equations of economy and development, as well as war and peace in the region, pushing two strong armies to the forefront to form a deterrent force that is, in fact, more important than waging wars, as it compels enemies and adversaries to think carefully before taking any reckless step and the consequences that may arise from it.
