"Do not offer what you would not accept for the Saudi people."..
This is a profound statement I heard at the heart of the event from His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the General Supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works, during the launch of several humanitarian and relief projects in Syria. It encapsulates the directive of our great leadership to provide the highest quality of aid and relief materials, such as medical devices and services, ensuring they are no less than what is provided to the Saudi community.
When you are surrounded by blessings, even if you try to feel the pain of others, you will not touch it as those who are burned by it do, those who are tossed in its flames. We, the Saudis, are a people blessed by God with many blessings, the most important of which is (security), in addition to economic and social stability, wise leadership, and a unique public awareness of the importance of all of this, while also considering the needs of other nations and engaging in various volunteer and humanitarian efforts.
Last week, I accompanied a number of colleagues on one of the trips organized by the "King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works," which was headed to Syria to launch 62 charitable and developmental projects for our Syrian brothers. It was, indeed, a journey filled with giving, awe, emotions, and tears. The word "giving" does not adequately describe what the Kingdom, represented by the King Salman Center, expends in terms of humanitarian and developmental aid, whether food, medical supplies, or ongoing developmental projects. The awe was in the scale of this assistance, alongside the precision in studying the needs of the Syrian people and identifying what they lack. The team affiliated with the center, which bears the responsibility of shipping, distributing, and implementing aid, is truly inspiring in its dedication, loyalty, and endurance. The doctors rush to perform major surgeries one after another despite exhaustion, and the distribution teams penetrate remote and dangerous areas to extend a helping hand to the nearest and furthest points in the republic. The owners of charitable developmental projects race against time to build projects that meet the needs of the Syrian people in various regions, such as flour mills and bakeries, and this is just a part of the vast ocean of giving led by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and the accompanying staff of administrators, executives, and volunteers.
As for the emotions, they were not only about pride in this great nation that extends its unceasing generosity but also about the immense love and hospitality we received from our Syrian brothers, who rush to express their words of loyalty and gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both leadership and people. The hospitality exceeded the vastness of this afflicted country. Our journey began with sorrow over the extent of the destruction we witnessed along the way, particularly in Harasta and Jobar, and the dozens of kilometers we passed through, where complete devastation of buildings that were once landmarks was evident, along with the intense emotions for what lies beneath the rubble!
Our participation was akin to a small window through which we glimpse a vast ocean of flowing generosity from the Kingdom of Humanity and giving, the Kingdom of goodness that has spread across the globe from its lowest to its highest points, and standing, even for a moment, on the efforts of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works at the heart of the event... and on the bitter reality of humanity... and a hand extending with everything needed for a dignified life.
May God preserve this great nation, with its great leadership and loyal people, stable, secure, generous, and a beacon of goodness and giving, and a refuge for those in need across the east and west of the earth.
