The fate of Hamas leaders targeted by Israel in Doha remains officially uncertain at the time of writing this article. Benjamin Netanyahu emerged after the raid boasting about fulfilling his promise to eliminate them, but news from various sources, including Israeli political and media circles, began to indicate that the raid failed to achieve its objective. If this failure is confirmed, then Israeli arrogance would have been struck a significant blow this time, adding to its bad reputation and precarious position with most countries and peoples around the world.
Israel did not carry out the operation arbitrarily or without assessing its consequences; rather, it means what it did. However, it is an unprecedented act in conflicts to target a party present with a key mediator in the dispute. It is indeed a treacherous operation, as described by the Qatari Prime Minister, and it confirms that Israel never wants negotiations to succeed, even if it leads to such recklessness by violating the sovereignty of the mediator's airspace and territory and bombing civilian sites. It wants the mediation to falter and end so that it can continue its project to fully occupy Gaza, but things will not proceed this way. It is placing more obstacles in its path and affirming more strongly and clearly than before that it is a rogue terrorist entity, defying international law and the rules and commitments of negotiation in conflicts.
When Israel engages in this kind of aggression, it undermines the remaining lies that it is a party capable of serious engagement in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza or reaching a genuine peace with the countries of the region. It is an unnatural entity in its inception, governed by myths that control its policies, and with the significant support it receives from its main patron, it has brewed in the minds of its political and military leaders that it will indeed be the region's policeman in the new Middle East project, forgetting the existence of historically rooted countries in its surroundings, with sovereignty, strength, and resilience, that will ultimately not allow Israel to redraw maps, alter geopolitical realities, or tamper with historical constants.
The Gulf Cooperation Council countries rushed to express their full solidarity with Qatar immediately after the aggression in Doha, offering all their capabilities to it, as did the Arab countries and many nations around the world. If Israel believes it will remain an existential threat to the countries of our region, then these countries consider protecting themselves, their sovereignty, stability, and security an existential matter as well, which they will not take lightly.
