The night of Taif tempts one to win its affection with a poem..!
“I have become infatuated with you, and God has written for me to part from you,” a text written before I knew that the most beautiful poetry is “the sweetest.” During this time, we were taken by Prince Saud bin Bandar—may God have mercy on him—to the path of Al-Hawiya to read those appointments “between the grass and the streams.”
This beauty was presented by Salama Al-Abdallah with a melody that immortalizes..
As I searched for the “biography” of this song, I found it among four young men who share its beauty with voices that possess such sweetness that made me say: The elegies of the great do not die..!
Nawaf Al-Jabarti, Taleb Al-Mari, Hamad Al-Khuzaynah, and Muteb Al-Shallan presented this beauty to us with vocal abilities through which I imagined myself as part of the creativity that reminded me of the day I approached with measured steps..!
I realized while I was conversing with this beauty that feelings do not age...
“I didn’t feel like I was with people before I met you
And I didn’t taste the world’s flavor before you met me
And I didn’t feel the pangs of love before I adored you
And if it weren’t for your eyes, I wouldn’t have written my sweetest melodies”
Here—oh all who pass by my words—words fell silent and memories began..!
“You see, what comforts me about your presence is your memory
I can never forget you; I fear you might forget me”
May God have mercy on Prince Saud bin Bandar, and may God have mercy on Salama Al-Abdallah.
