The echoes of the visit made by a large delegation of Saudi businessmen, headed by the Minister of Investment, to Syria are still resonating in the media; this was not a protocol visit to mark attendance, but rather a working visit focused on achievements in vital areas, investing in the resources and components that distinguish Syria, to transform it into a modern country with a strong economy and competitive capabilities at the regional level.
Here, we want to talk about the concept of Arab cooperation and joint action, a slogan that we hear echoed continuously in Arab media and political speeches for a long time, but its translation into reality is not at the level that the Arab peoples aspire to. The Kingdom has always had another application of this concept throughout its history, a practical, real, and sincere application, which sometimes reached the point of linking its fate with that of its brothers. We cite here the saying of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz (may God have mercy on him) during the Kuwait occupation crisis: "Either the Kingdom and Kuwait remain, or they go together." And now we are living what can be called the Saudi-Syrian experience in cooperation, as the Kingdom has placed all its political weight behind Syria, even in front of it, since the beginning of the breakthrough there and the establishment of a new state that confirmed its desire to return Syria to its Arab surroundings. The Kingdom initiated a historic movement to support Syria in stabilizing its state and ensuring its stability, helping it emerge from its complex crises. It was a surprise to the world when the Syrian president met the American president in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh, with all the significant implications and results of that meeting, the most important of which was lifting sanctions on Syria, allowing the lifeblood to begin flowing through its veins.
During the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum, the Crown Prince ordered the formation of the Saudi-Syrian Coordination Council to activate all forms of support for Syria, under his direct care and supervision, according to a clear vision and a firm determination to build a modern, economically strong, and politically stable Syria. We are thus talking about a special formula and a unique concept of Arab cooperation in the Kingdom, which is not a rhetorical formula devoid of meaning or a slogan to be consumed in official statements, but rather a belief in the inevitability of cooperation and its translation into actions and work programs.
