With the announcement by the American president of the end of the war between Iran and Israel after 13 days of mutual shelling between the two countries, and the entry of the United States into the confrontation by targeting sites of the Iranian nuclear program, a new round of political negotiations among the conflicting parties begins from scratch, accompanied by a loss of trust, arrogance towards reality, and the extent of the damages and losses incurred by each side, as well as an attempt to present a narrative of victory that would be convincing to public opinion in Iran and Israel.
The most important aspect at this stage is that the battle has stopped with international approval, led by the Kingdom, but the war will continue between the two sides in various forms and models, primarily through intelligence operations involving agents and spies, creating problems in the region, and activating alternative arms to direct confrontation. This was emphasized by the French president, who stated that the situation in the Middle East remains fragile, and the British government warned that the situation could explode at any moment. The Kremlin also expressed hope that the ceasefire decision would be sustainable, as did China, which saw the importance of achieving a political settlement to prevent tension and escalation in the region.
Notably, during the past two weeks of the war, Saudi diplomacy has successfully expressed political positions that serve the interests of the region and its peoples, prioritizing the language of dialogue, peace, and stability in its realistic and balanced political discourse. It has faced regional and international challenges and crises with wisdom and reason, also providing solutions. Saudi diplomacy gains its value and status from the diversity and multiplicity of its international relations, and the extent of political, economic, and cultural activities it currently enjoys, particularly with Vision 2030. It has become clear how these activities reflect on the new diplomatic reality that the Kingdom has emerged in during this phase, and the extent of its influence in international decision-making, participation in it, and negotiation over it.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression against Iran, the Kingdom has shown consistent and influential political positions. It immediately condemned those aggressions and the violation of the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, considering them a blatant violation of international laws and norms. The Kingdom also expressed its complete commitment to the importance of de-escalation, calming tensions, exercising restraint, and supporting dialogue and a peaceful solution to emerge from the crisis, thereby sparing the region and the world from its political, economic, and even humanitarian impacts. The Kingdom also emphasized that any military conflict in the region would fuel violent extremism from all extremist ideological organizations, calling on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to assume its responsibilities to put a definitive end to the Israeli aggressions in the region.
Over the course of two weeks of Israeli aggression against Iran, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince made more than 13 phone calls to Gulf, Arab, regional, and international leaders. The content of these calls revealed a high-level Saudi diplomatic effort to address the crisis and its serious repercussions on the region. His Royal Highness showed great interest in the importance of stability and achieving international peace, rejecting the use of force to settle disputes, and emphasizing dialogue to resolve differences. His calls also highlighted an important aspect of the depth of the bilateral relations enjoyed by the Kingdom, the extent of its influence, and its status in assessing common interests and the future outlook for the region.
